SOURCE: My 2004 ford explorer cranks but it will not start

OK. We need spark-fuel-and compression to start (and we need these at the correct time) U will need to spark tester or substitute to check spark. Spark should be blue and jump at least 1" in lenght. Check for "Noid" light at fuel injectors. One side of injector is 12volt power and the other side is grounded by pcm to "spray" fuel. Do you hear the fuel pump? Also scan for codes. Does it crank normally...sounds normal?

SOURCE: MY 98 FORD EXPLORER CRANKS

You mean that the starter is turning (cranks) the engine but the engine won't start? Be sure it is getting fuel. Turn the key to the on position and you should hear the fuel pump in the fuel tank run for a few seconds. If so that is good. If the fuel is being delivered then possibly you have no spark which usually is the electronic ignition module. The only way to test it is to replace it. Your timing chain or belt could be broken or "jumped" as the third possibility. I am leaning toward ignition module being bad as they just die without warning and nothing can revive them.

SOURCE: Why my 2002 Ford Explorer cranks but won't start?

two engine systems has things to do with this problem, fuel and ignition.
part of the system you're going to check.
fuel pump regulator(fuel) and if it has spark(ignition).
and/or
have a shop with scan tool to diagnose exactly the other problem(s).

Has the battery been load tested (Autozone tests free)? Are the battery cables free of corrosion? Has the starter solenoid been checked to see if the ignition start signal is present at the starter solenoid when the key is held in the crank position?

2004 Ford Explorer will not start

What happens when you turn the key to start the vehicle ? Does the starter spin the engine ? Crank - no start condition ! Or does nothing happen when you turn the key to the start position ? NO - CRANK - NO START condition ! Two totally different diagnostic procedures.
So will not start how ?

Sorry but , Ford is noted for not recalling the Pinto exploding gas tanks. Internal memo said, "Cheaper to let people burn in 15 MPH crash than accept responsibility" Also look at Explorer exploding tires.
On my Ford, the steering arm snapped off. Zero steering control!! Lucky I was 100 feet from home not on freeway
