Speed and rpm jumping around and engine light came on and it only got to 45 mph

Could possibly be your Vehicule speed sensor that doesn't work correctly .

Best way to know is to check for engine codes . But you'll need to have an obd2 scanner.

Automatic transmission vehicle speed difficulty?

Parked on the ground, blocking the transmission lever in P position, players pull brakes, then step on the gas pedal and accelerate the inspection of the engine. If the engine speed is increased slowly this time, or up to a certain speed does not go on to mention, that the failure was caused by engine problems, check the engine oil pressure, cylinder pressure is normal, whether the fuel injection system, and each sensor is working properly.
Transmission failure: It may be in the transmission or burned badly worn friction plate, or transmission valve body shift valves, solenoid valves, transmission control computer and its related circuit malfunction, causing difficulty speed transmission upshifts. it is necessary to go to a professional repair shop for maintenance . via greebid.com

I have a 2007 Volvo 670. The check vehicle ecu comes on. The fault code is MID 144 PID 191 FMI 5. THe truck won't go pass 1400 rpm, the speedometer doesn't work, the cruise doesn't work, the engine break doesn't work. I have to turn the truck off going down the road at highway speed for about 10 seconds and it'll go back to normal. Can anybody help?

E300 1994 codes read p0720 and p0500 one is speed sensor and the other is tran speed sensor, we are having prob with tran shifting and various speeds and rpm jumping up then shifting.

try changing the drive shaft speed sensor, sounds like you have a malfunctioning drive shaft speed sensor, change sensor and reset codes and test... e 300 had this problem in 94 and 95 even when they were close to new with very low miles... please rate my help , thanks

Speed sensor for a 1996 Century

Dave,

May want to see if the parts store gave you a good sensor or not. Also May want to check and see if you have a transmission input and output sensor as well. these will also give you the same symptoms. Whatever it is, the transmission is not sending the speed signal to your ECU which is in turn not sending the right shift points until its too late causing the hard shifting and also since the ECU doesnt have a speed signal you may not get an odometer/speedometer reading (one or both may go out). Hope this gives you some direction. Good luck. Thanks for using fixya.
