SOURCE: Engine Check Light - 2006 KIA Optima

Hi

Before you turn out the light you should have a code read carried out just to make sure nothing sinister is going on with the management system.

If the car is running ok then the code will probably either pertian to the O2 sensor, the EVAP system, or a drop in catalytic efficiency, but this isn't set in stone, just the most popular scenarios.

Very best regards

Geordie

P0441 is Evap Emission Incorrect Purge Flow; the repair you are describing is easy, and should correct the P0441 restricition...I would anticipate no large problems.

SOURCE: Location of a 2002 kia optima fuel filter

Hi on this car the fuel filter is in the fuel pump so the pump as a whole will be replaced. To get to it you will have to remove the rear seat bottom cushion. There are 2 12m bolts inbetween the top cushion and the bottom. remove them and then on the front of the bottom cushion there will be 2 plastic clips pull up on them and the cushion will pop up and you will see the acc panel for the pump.

In a 2006 Toyota Corolla S. What is the Filter(?) box with the tubes coming out connecting to the main smog system near the left rear tire?

The "Filter Box" that you are referring to on this vehicle in that location would be the emissions system EVAP canister "aka...the charcoal canister" it takes vapors from the fuel tank and stores them in the activated "charcoal" to be used at at later time during engine combustion.

Hope this helps..

MY 2007 accent has a hard time starting only when I put gas in

Your Accent has an Evaporative Emissions System which incorporates a valve, called the purge control solenoid valve (PCSV). If/when it sticks open, it will continually/continuously apply a vacuum to the charcoal canister, creating a 'RICH' mixture condition after re-fueling. The charcoal canister absorbs fuel vapors during refueling. The PCSV operates to vaccum/**** those absorbed vapors from the charcoal canister to the engine intake to burn them. This is most likely the cause of what you describe. Go to www.hmaservice.com and register your vehicle by VIN #..
you'll then have access to wiring diagrams, shop manuals,
service bulletins, illustrations, etc.

What is the canister?

"Canister" usually refers to the charcoal canister. It's part of an emissions system called the evap system. It's a canister that contains a refined form of charcoal that absorbs evaporated gasoline from the fuel tank, and stores it until the computer opens a valve and it is burned by the engine.

Gas pump keeps tripping off often

you have a bad charcoal canister. Go underneath the left rear of the car, pull the big hose off the charcoal canister, and if charcoal come out of the hose, replace the canister. This is a common problem w/Hyundai and Kia.

I like to now how to fix the code 0446 on kia optima 2001 2.4l engine. thanks

P0446 - Vent Control of the Evap System. This Evaporative Emissions System is very complicated. These particular DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) can be caused by MORE than they tell you. Three MAJOR components in the system can cause this P0446. 1. Charcoal Canister, 2. Charcoal Canister Filter, 3. Canister Close Valve, 4. Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor, 5. Purge Control Solenoid Valve, 6, Wiring and/or connector/connections between them and the ECU. If you wish to trust the computer's diagnostics, then replace the canister close valve (after you have inspected the Evap Charcoal Canister's air filter and find no problems with restrictions of air flow). If the problem comes back, check the Purge Control Solenoid Valve and the operation of the Fuel Tank Pressure sensor - either one of those components, if malfunctioning, can cause a P0446.
