SOURCE: 2005 Corolla LE brake lights not working

to ss1957, i have exactly the same problem as yours. At first i thought the bulbs of both side are okay because the filaments (there's two on each) are intact. It turned out that they're not. The brake lights came back as soon as I replaced the bulbs.

SOURCE: Dash illumination and rear lights went out at the same time.

first get a auto repair manual for you car at the local auto parts store or Ebay, then check the manual for dash light location and rear light locations , next with a continuity checker check for gound and power in the sockets , may be a bulb got over heated and shorted a wire causing dash and rear lights not to work

Megane coupe 1999 rear fog indicator comes on when brakes pressed, fogs don't work or high level brake light.

I have the similar problem with my 2000 model. On mine I have narrowed it down to the rear light cluster on the right as you look at it from the rear (drivers side in the UK). Here's how I fix mine, although it does keep happening every now and again:
Remove the lights cover from inside the boot, it is held in place by a couple of plastic nuts.
Remove the strip of lights that are clipped into place.
There is an electrical connector block attached to the now removed light cluster. Undo this and the whole set of lights will be free.
Where the connector block fits to the light cluster clean all of the terminals. I use one of my wifes nail emery boards.
Make sure the female connectors on the connector block are all fairly snug so when put back together it is a tight fit.
Clean with electrical contact cleaner if you have any (not really necessary but I had some anyway).
Reconnect the block and test your lights, put back together.
I suspect it is an earth fault but I ran a separate earth to the unit but it didn't improve.
Other faults I noticed is the rear wiper operates when the front one only is on and I touch the brakes. Also when I lock the car when the indicators flash to show it is locked the rear high level brake lights flash as well. I was thinking of trying another light cluster, but 25 pounds from a breakers yard seems a little steep for a minor irritation.

My 89 nissan d21 brakelights went out and when i push down the pedal my dash lights come on

Hi, if you didnt fix it yet I'll tell you what could cause the dash lights to come on while pressing on the brake pedal, and that is checking the bulbs AND putting the wrong one in the wrong hole, IE putting the back-up bulb in a brake/parking light socket . The single lead on the center of the back-up bulb shorts the double contacts on the brake/park light socket so the electricity just flows through the one tip of the bulb connecting the two contacts in the socket since the park and dash lights are on the same circuit the dash lights will be energized, hope that makes sense as it happened to me with a 66 mustang. Good luck!!

Infl rest brake light on dash stays on while driving - had mechanic check brakes and fluid - all ok - mechanic said nothing wrong with car - ???

You don't say what year this is but the light means that there is an inbalance in pressure between the front and rear of the master cylinder. S o there is more pressure being send to the front brakes or the rears. And thats what this switch tells you . If the mechinac didn't see a problem with the system and you have antilock brakes it could be wheel speed sensors or the master cylinder is leaking between the front and the rear resiorvior interaily or there could be a load sensing valve incorperated in the system NLSV valve or you could have a bad brake line fitting that is leaking in a small way But if brake fluid can get out then air will get in the system. So i would say its a vary small leak at a fitting or line or the master brake cylinder is starting to go or VWS sensor or if equiped The LSV load sensing valve

My dash lights come on when my brakes are pushed in my 93 nissan pick-up

If you mean the brake warning light on the dash is coming on, it is telling you that you have a problem with your hydraulic system, There is a switch that senses an imbalance between the front and the rear brakes. First check your brake fluid, if it's low than you have a external leak. If it's not low, the master cylinder has failed internally.Lokk for brake fluid leaks behind each wheel and at the back of the master cylinder. If you can find a leak or it's not low on fluid you had a bad master cylinder.

Rear brake lights do not work.

The brake light that is on the dash is for the emergency brake...When that light is on that is supposed to tell you that the emergency brake is applied if the brake is not applied then you need to service the emergency brake. And on the brake pedal there is a coupler that is hooked up to the pedal bracket that wire may be soft set try gently snapping it into place.
