Question about Chevrolet Equinox

1 Answer

Transmission modulator I have a 2007 Chev Equinox with 51k miles. In past month has begun "bucking" at about 45- 55mph. I seem to be able to give it some gas and sort of get through it, but it "bucks" all the way through. I've read issues from bad plug wires and plugs to bad transmissions. Is there definite way to determine the actual cause of this and get it resolved? This has been a very good vehicle up to this point.

SOURCE: Bucking on Hard Acceleration

You best bet would be to look for the vacuum diagram and just take a day to make sure all of the lines to the engine and tranny are all correct. If its not it and while bucking the car feels like its going to turn off on you then it maybe a fuel delivery problem.

SOURCE: bucking while idling

Have the upper and lower intake manifold checked. It needs to be a cold start. 2000's are notorious for having the gaskets crack and leak. This may be causing the engine to idle rough at start-up ans somewhat disappear after warming. Winter starts can shake the steering wheel!

P.s. I had it fixed at 65,000 miles (warranty), and am having it fixed again at $120,000 miles.

SOURCE: Where is the transmission Fill plug on a 2005 chevy equinox?

There is no fill plug on transmission pans, you have to fill them from the
dipstick tube in the engine bay. Get a long funnel that will fit into the
dipstick tube hole, and then fill it that way. Make sure you turn the
vehicle on while filling it, and put it through all the gears, with your foot
on the brake. This will make sure your torque convertor is being properly
filled, along with the trans. Good luck.

My 1987 jeep yj will not go in reverse..it only has 51k miles and is auto. when i shift into neutral its sounds and moves like it wants to go in reverse,

True, but you also have to consider 51K and 25 years of service. I would try a transmission drain and refill with a new transmission filter, see if that helps. Flush the lines or replace them also.

That would be your computer system trying to tell you that there is a malfunction in your traction and stability control system. You will have to access the computer data in order to find out the nature of the failure and to diagnose the problem.

I have a 2007 chev. Equinox LS. The panel on dashboard has told me that my Stabilitrak System needs servicing. Is this a serious problem? Also I have to drive 20 miles to my Chev. dealer will this harm...

The service stabilitrak comes on if you pass gas near one of these vehicles. It can be from anything like a weak battery or a sticking EGR valve (my car's current issue) to a wheel sensor module/hub assembly (past problem with mine) or a combination of things. The first step is to get the error codes checked by someone with a reader (dealer or good mechanic). From there, you will know enough to say how much it will cost to fix it. Chevy needs to be sued for this problem because they won't do anything to change it otherwise. It's basically a useless warning light because the AWD is always on, and unless you get an ABS warning, or plan on driving like a maniac on a muddy road, the Stabilitrack is a waste of money. If it ever DOES come on, it will probably be after you hit something, anyway.

Take it back to the dealership! Sounds like wrong fluid was used or damage was caused by fill procedure. Gm transmissions are also electronic and components such as solenoids could be failing. Never Never change or flush GM transmissions as early as 70,000 miles if it is normal use. You are asking for trouble. Under normal use they are sealed and can go for 100,000 mile under normal operation

2007 Lincoln MKZ, very intermittent transmission hesitation

This is going to be either a programing issue in the transmission control module or an main control valve body concern. This vehicle is under warranty for 48 months or 50000 miles so I would have my local dealer take a look at it.
Ford has a new techincal service bulletin out on a concern similar to what you are describing. It states that if vehicle has less then 20000 miles to reprogram the PCM and TCM, if it has over 20000 miles they recommend to replace the main conrol valve body. The TSB number is 08-24-01
