Is this one of those rare Chevy Lincolns? What are you really trying to fix? Generally, remove distributor, wires, fuel lines, unbolt manifold and remove. You did put engine on TDC with #1 plug in compression stroke? You did mark the position of the rotor.

You need to by a cheap shop manual to walk you through the steps and insure you don't mess up the spark timing.

you need: spark plugs, spark plug wires, depending on if newer system that is all. if it is older you will also need rotor cap and rotor button. label the plug wires and change one plug and corosponding wire at a time after changing the (cap and button).make shure the plug wires go on the new cap in the same order that they came off.

Hi, my 94 lincoln towncar is giving me problem?

This problem sounds like the Idle Air Control is sticking when cold. At the back of the intake manifold, at the base of the elbow where the rubbber air plenum clamps on, is where the IAC is located. It has an electrical connection with a red and a white/light blue wire. Replacement is recommended, but sometimes the sticking can be resolved by removing and cleaning.

answer , very carefully ...

drain coolant , remove and mark all vacuum lines , make a schematic to diagram your hose routing, disconnect and plug all fuel lines, remove distributor and mark location of rotor, disconnect battery, remove any necessary cables, brackets and or accesseries, remove intake mounting bolts, note length of bolts and reference location, pry up on intake , remove intake, scrape old gasket off , must be very clean to reinstall new gasket or you will cause a leak..
