I would strongly suggest having your wheel bearings checked out on both front hubs. If you smelled rubber burning...this points to a possible severe front end problem and should be checked out ASAP! How long since it has had a frontend alignment? Also sounds like your brake pads are metal to metal, which would mean having new pads and rotors installed.

I don't know if the purchase is relatively recent or not (let's say one month or less) I would refer to the dealer for a free advise. If they are professional they should check it free of charge and let you know about possible causes and fixex. First step to be done before any other trial.

remove 2 10mm bolts attaching top of headlight to the radiator support.
remove plastic clip attachinig headlight to top/front of fender.
remove 5 phillips screws on top of grill.
carefully pull out grill enough to remove 1 10mm bolt attaching headlight to radiator support and use slotted screwdriver or prybar to seperate headlight tab from the bracket that goes under the bumper cover.
with a little effort and wiggling pull out headlight assembly.
