Dodge Grand Caravan 2nd row headrest stuck, can't stow

I have a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. The headrest for one of the seats in the 2nd row is stuck in the upright position. Because of this, I can't stow the seat in the stow and go compartment. The seat next to it works fine. When I pull the release strap, its headrest collapses automatically. Any suggestions on how to fix the one that's stuck?

The middle seat headrest does not fold down in our 2013 Town and Country. something is definitely stuck not allowing the latch to release it.

SOURCE: the third row seat is stuck in the collapsed

I had to take it to the dealer to get it 'unstuck' and they ended up bending the frame of the backseat! If you can get into the spot where it locks into the trunk frame you can unlock it yourself, but you need a second person to hold the seat back form the trunk frame so you can POSSIBLY squeeze your hand or a tool in there to do it. Its VERY DIFFICULT! Hope that made sense...lol

SOURCE: Driver side second row seat will not fold down or adjust.

I had the same problem. The dealer wanted $400 to replace the latch. I didn't wnat to pay that much so I looked at it and found that the release strap was twisted and jammed in the mechanism. Here's how I fixed it.

I removed the screw from the lever and removed the lever. I pulled apart the plastic housing. It does not come apart all the way but enough to work on it. Pull the release strap that comes out of the back and pull it clear of the mechanism and straighten it out. slip the lever back on and the seat should fold. Fold it up all the way to make it easier to reassemble. Pull the lever back off and slip the release strap back into the slot and make sure it is not twisted or kinked. Snap the housing back together, put the lever back on, and screw it in. Test it and it should work fine. Hope this helps,

2nd row head rest stuck and seat with not fold down

If the head rest is down and hasn't been moved in quite a while the guides may be corroded or rusty from moisture. A flat bar or large screwdriver with any sharp edges filed down or taped to avoid upholstery damage may be inserted between the seat back and headrest and rocked up and down like a seesaw near each end of the headrest to get it to move. If it starts to move you can add spacers to keep squeezing the headrest up until it moves more freely. If the headrest is part way up it may be cocked one way and jamming. just give it a whack or two side to side to see if it helps to free it. If you do get it out wipe a little silicone lube on the shafts with a rag to help keep it moving.

Remove third row headrest

Pull the headrest up toward the ceiling as far as you are able. There is a small plastic button on the side of one of the metal mounting rods (that go down into the seat). Depress and hold the button and pull up again. The headrest will come right out.

In the middle of the folds in the floor, there is a slide lock button. It is color keyed to your interior or shows red. I can't recall which is locked. This may be your problem. Also both front seats must be forward to open them all the way.
