You may have a bad coil pack. They are located on top of the spark plugs. If a coil pack is bad then if will miss as well as you could loose gas milage and performance.

Dodge stratus shaking

if this is happening at a stand still then its not a brake problem as you have to be moving applying the brakes to get a car shake from the brakes. you may need a tune-up due to a miss fire which you will have to check out. another possible problem could be a vacume leak causing the engine to try to stall, like a bad pcv valve. although most vacume leaks cause an increase in idle. some things to check out.

Did you verify that your battery is not the problem. Easy way to do this is hook up a voltmeter to the battery and try and start the car. If battery voltage falls below 9-10 volts you need to replace your battery. Even though your lights work the battery may not have enough capacity to turn the starter.

2000 Dodge Stratus misses, or hesitates, when going up a hill or when at a stop and you have to let off the gas and then push it again to get it to go. In the winter, i smelled a sickly sweet smell wh

Heater core is a possibility, and monitoring your coolant level closely should tell you if it is leaking as level will go down. As far as hesitation goes, if check engine light comes on, a trip to autozone or Pep boys for a free trouble code scan, should point everyone in right direction rather than replacing parts by guessing. (much cheaper that way too)
