A code P0128 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

1-Low engine coolant level
2-Leaking or stuck open thermostat
3-Faulty cooling fan (running too much)
4-Faulty coolant temperature (ECT) sensor
5-Faulty intake air temperature (IAT) sensor

Check coolant level
Check to make sure thermostat is functioning properly Check the Cooling fan Check the ECT sensor Check the IAT sensor If all else fails replace the thermostat

SOURCE: CTS CODE PO420

most of the time its the sensor that cause this,id try replacing the sensor on it,that usually fixes that code, but you have to get the code cleared off with a scanner ,and then re-scan it to make sure it doesn't come up again, good luck with it.

First off who ever said $400 to change a thermostat is trying to rip you off. The actual part is like $20 bucks max and its so easy to change. I can guide you through it if you would like.

The P0128 code is Coolant Thermostat Malfunction.

These are the possible causes for this code:
- Insufficient warm up time.
- Low engine coolant level.
- Leaking or stuck open thermostat.
- Malfunctioning engine coolant temperature sensor.

These are the possible quick fixes:
- Top OFF Engine Coolant
- Replaced Thermostat

Check engine light on sputtering and ruff acceleration won't start

This could the symptom of so many things; bad plug or wire, vacuum issue, coil, etc etc. Best thing to do is to go to Autozone and have them read your fault codes for free to narrow it down considerably. You can also buy a code reader these days cheap. Buy an ELM 327 blue tooth module from Amazon from Yongtech or similar for $10-$20, and then download a free mobile blue tooth app on your smartphone or pad such as "Torque" and do it yourself now and in the future, real easy. Also, what year and model car do you have?

Take the Jag down and get a look at it and get it inspected. Cars tend to spring up on people like this. The light goes off, you check, you think it is fine. But later, it just so happens that it isn't.

If the check engine light is on you should have the computer scanned for trouble codes. The codes will direct you or a mechanic on where to look for the problem.
Sometimes the problem is low fuel pressure or a dirty fuel filter.

Please don't tell us, you don't know what to do,
when any Diagnostic Trouble Code light comes on the

2003 ford f 150 4.6 v8 and the idle went from smooth to rough also sputters and sluggish while driving check engine light is flashing.

have the vehicle scanned for error codes at autozone, its free. Post codes for more help....These engines have issues with the COPs (ignition coils-over-plugs) failing prior to 80k miles. When they fail typical problems are: Sputtering under load/acceleration, rough idle, random misfires, random stalling, light or heavy jerking under load (usually at 15-35mph and 45-65mph)..hopefully this helps!!
