1: the lubrication oil supply continuously the friction surface of each part, forming a lubricating oil film, reduce the parts of the friction, wear and power consumption.
2 cooling effect: the lubricating oil flows through the part surface can absorb the heat and the heat back into the oil pan scattered into the atmosphere, plays the role of cooling.
3 clean: lubrication system through the lubrication oil flow, the parts of the surface of the abrasive washing down, back to the crankcase.
The 4 seal: seal the gap between the cylinder wall and piston, piston ring and ring groove.
5 anti corrosion: to prevent or reduce the component corrosion and chemicalcorrosion.
6 when the engine cylinder pressure rise sharply, suddenly increasing the piston, connecting rod and a shaft bearing load, the load of the transferlubricated bearings, the impact load to bear the receive buffer

Purchased focus sport 2006 model no service manual. Mileage 43,000 kms. Need to know service intervals either time/mileage perhaps a copy of the service schedule will suffice.

These maintenance intervals come from the maintenance interval calculator
at www.autozone.com, using a starting point of 25,800 miles (43000 km), and
assuming 1000 miles (1666 km) driven per month, and "severe driving conditions," which
are actually normal usage characteristics, such as frequent short trips, urban driving, waiting in traffic, driving in hot weather, trips under 16 km in cold weather, etc.

Suddenly, place key in ignition and it won't turn beyond accessory. Steering wheel won't lock and shifter lever won't function properly.

needs a new barrel ,try putting some engine oil down the hole and gently tap the end where the key goes ,it might just be tight with grit and need a nice lubrication with some proper oil not that spray stuff

Can being low on oil cause over heating

oil has three functions

1.) lubrication
2.) cooling
3.) keep engine clean

so yes... low or dirty oil will cause the engine to run hotter than normal, but I have never seen it actually cause overheating

My engine ticks till its warm is that normal or is the rings and pistons bad or is that normal for an older high mile engine to do that?

First make sure that you have enough oil in the car by checking the oil dipstick. High mileage vehicles tend to burn more oil and needs to be checked more often. If you have the correct amount of oil, your valves may need to be looked at, adjusted and/or replaced. In colder weather oil is thicker in consistency and takes longer to circulate and lubricate the engine and components which require lubrication, hence when the vehicle warms up, the oil is circulating and performing it's function properly. I hope this helps and good luck!

Engine Oil

HP-2004 work for 2.5L and 4.0L

Manual Transmission
The level of lubricant in the transmission should be maintained at the filler hole on all manual transmissions. This hole is on the right side. When you check the level in the transmission, make sure that the vehicle is level so that you get a true reading. When you remove the filler plug, lubricant should run out of the hole. Replace the plug quickly for a minimum loss of lubricant. If lubricant does not run out of the hole when the plug is removed, lubricant should be added until it does. Replace the plug as soon as the lubricant reaches the level of the hole.

Fig. 1: Manual transmission fill and drain hole plugs

DRAIN AND REFILL
Remove the drain plug which is at the bottom of the transmission. Allow all the lubricant to run out before replacing the plug. Replace the case with the correct viscosity oil. All manual transmissions use SAE 75W-90 API quality Grade GL-5 gear lubricant. Tighten the fill hole plug to 27 ft. lbs. (37 Nm).

I hope help you with this (rermember rated this help) Good luck.
