How do I disable ABS without loosing brake lights?

Having an issue with our ABS System. Some forums mentioned to pull the ABS fuse. I did, and it fixed the braking issues, but I lost braking lights. Why would an ABS fuse be tied into my brake lights? And is there a way around this?

That shouldnt be, put the fuse back and see if lights return . next go to front hubs you will see wires coming out of the hubs unplug and clean the contacts then plug in again abs will probley work . other wise onplug and black tape[ well ]the wires going up the frame so if a person changes hubs the abs can be easlie reactivated.

SOURCE: 2003 Cadillac CTS - the car won't shift from park

sounds like you have a bad brkae light switch, which is located on the brake pedal assembly. a bad switch will not let you shift out of park and you will not have any brake lights as the car does not recognize that the pedal is being pushed and brakes engaged. easy to replace switch if you are handy, if not this is a inexpensive repair at any mechanic. hope this was helpful is so please rate 4 thumbs.

Where is the abs relay located

The abs relay is internal to the EBCM if you are referring to the code c0265 sets in the module and causes the ABS and RED brake light.

Disable ABS without losing brake lights?

Many of the master cylinders have connection for a brake light pressure switch. Some also active the brake lights by placing a switch directly under the brake pedal. You may need to build your own bracket.

Under the hood there should be a fuse box, it's going to be one of the big fuses, had the same problem, 01 Tahoe. Found out it was a front bearing assembly. I replaced and it works fine now. Be carful as you will have no abs once fuse is pulled and FYI the abs light and break light will stay on as well. Good luck

Can the abs brakes system be changed to a standard system and how?

Anything that disables the ABS,pull the fuse, disconnect a wheel sensor, unplug the controller,
will turn on the ABS light and the brakes will be normal base brakes.

one way to disable the abs brakes is to go under the hood and remove the abs relay, the box is located under the hood on the drivers side next to the battery just pull it out and your brakes will be like regular brakes the only problem is that your brake light and traction light will stay on but if you can put up with them then that will fix your problem. hope this helps.

2002 pontiac grand prix abs light is on all the time

check the fuse under the hood, you may have to disconnect batterty to do so, this fuse goes and is hundreds of dollars cheaper than if it is something else~! If the ABS IS broken and you are comfortable without it, just remove the fuse and the whole ABS system is disabled leaving you standard non-abs braking without doing any harm.

Abs indicator lamp is always on...

Likely one of the wheel sensors. Check that the master cylinder reservoir and ABS unit have enough brake fluid. When the light is on, ABS is disabled, the brakes should continue to work just like a car without ABS.
