I would like to help but that is vague at best and I would imagine that they should be working independently. A dimmer and a standard on/off switch.

SOURCE: I have a 04 Toyota Tacoma. I have short in the dimmer switch.

It cold just be a fuse that is loose in the fuse box causing the dash lights to come on and off. Or potentially a loose wire from the fuse box the dash lights.

SOURCE: Headlights not working. They will come on if you

You need to take the vehicle back to whoever repaired it for there's a rod running down from your dimmer switch to the actual dimmer switch mounted above your ankles which should be white and/or green and it has two 5/16" nuts or 8 mm, same thing, and the headlight dimmer switch is slotted to move it up or down the column to make contact. You can do this yourself in loosening the bolts, turning on the headlights, and when they stay on, lock down one of the 8 mm bolts, then check the dimming feature and if it's still not correct, loosen the bolts just enough to move the switch (with the rod coming down from the steering wheel) just enough to "fine-tune" your adjustment.

2007 chev sub head lights wont turn on

Do you know anything about automotive electronics ? Electronic control modules .
Headlamp ON/OFF control is determined by the body control module (BCM) by a signal on the headlamp switch on input circuit when the headlamp switch is in the HEAD position. When the headlamp switch is in the AUTO position, the BCM determines headlamps ON/OFF by the voltage from the ambient light sensor.
If the headlight switch is left in the ON position, the inadvertent power control feature will turn OFF the headlights approximately 10 minutes after the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position. If the driver places the headlight switch in the ON position after the ignition switch has been turned OFF, or if the ignition switch is in the ACCY position, the headlights will remain ON until turned OFF or the battery runs dead.
The high beam indicator is illuminated when the instrument cluster receives a GMLAN serial data message from the BCM that the high beams are illuminated.
High Beams
The high beam headlamps receive voltage from the headlamp high relay located in the underhood fuse block. The BCM controls the relay on the headlamp high beam relay control circuit. High beam control is determined by a signal on the headlamp dimmer switch signal circuit from the multifunction switch. When the headlamp dimmer switch signal circuit is grounded, the BCM grounds the headlamp high beam relay control circuit, illuminating the high beam headlamps. The right and left high beam circuits are independent and are fused independently in the underhood fuse block.
Low Beams - Standard
The low beam headlamps receive voltage from the headlamp low beam relay located in the underhood fuse block. The BCM controls the relay on the headlamp low beam relay control circuit. Low beam control is determined by a signal on the headlamp dimmer switch signal circuit from the multifunction switch. When the headlamp dimmer switch signal circuit is open, the BCM grounds the headlamp low beam relay control circuit, illuminating the low beam headlamps. The right and left low beam circuits are independent are fused independently in the underhood fuse block.

Hooking up a factory scan tool an checking DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes would be the very first step in trouble shooting this problem .

When my lights are on, i have no dash or heater controll lights One rear parking light is also out. i have a headlight switch and a seperate dimmer (roll type) switch

The dash lights are incorporated with the parklights. The heater control lights are incoporated with the dash lights. Make sure the dimmer switch is in the full illumination mode. It is possible the park light that is not working is burned out and causing a resistance issue amongst the park light circuitry. Replace the non working park light and retest

95 Toyota Celica ST Dimmer Switch

The instrument dimmer function is most likely in the light switch. Pull the switch to turn the parking lights on. Then rotate the knob to bring the instrument lights on, continue rotation of the knob to bring the dome light on. Be sure to turn dome light off so as not to kill your battery. the dome light will not turn itself off.

Yukon xl 2002 Engine was replaced with '05. When headlamps are turned on, instrument panels lights and radio lights turn off.

You may have the dimmer switch adjustment down, this is the switch that controls the brightness or dimmness of the lights make sure its turned up and if it is then you may have a bad dimmer switch which is sometimes no part of the headlight switch, it may be a seperate switch, this is where i would start good luck and i hope this is helpful.

When my car is off the car lights are on and my steering wheel won't lock. I have to take my bateery out just to completely shut the lights off

your problem is iether the lock cylinder (what you put the key in), or the ignition switch (if it is the style that has the switch seperate from the lock cylinder and connected together with a short rod. does the key fully return to the off position? does it move freely? if it doesnt return to the off position its probably the ignition switch, if it does return but moves hard i'd lean toward the lock cylinder. i believe the lock cylinder is the part which locks the steering wheel, and the igintion switch is the part that is keeping your lights from turning off. you would probably want to bring it to the dealer or independent repair shop.

Display panel dont light up

If you have a seperate dimmer switch for the dash lights it is probably bad replace it.
If the light switch is one piece then the dimmer portion of your headlight switch is burned out.the fuse is the same for all the light functions.

I would take a look at your headlight dimmer switch. The dimmer switch works independent of the DRL system.
Below is the wiring diagram for you vehicle.
Good luck and let me know.

Instrument light dimmer inop

Sounds like the dimmer is at fault. It's a dealer item, but call them and order one. Should be sold seperately, and isn't too expensive. Ask for an instrument panel dimmer (switch) for your particular year, etc. Thanks, TT
