My 99 taurus wont start after being submerged in water. Checked fuses replaced starter and computer still wont start.

did you get the correct matching computer??was it running when it went in??did you dry the complete car for a week in a heated area??change oil, antifreeze and tranny and brake fluid?its a 16 year old car,if you spend more than 1000 it is not worth fixing and should just sell it for scrap, submerging a car is the worst thing you could do,it shouldve been totalled on your insurance, even if you do get it running, you will always have problems

I have a 2006 dodge dakota I submerged in water and blew motor. Since then I replaced motor and trany with 2010 3.7 same motor. Drove it long enough to blow holes in both valve covers to figure out cats...

The '06 computer won't know how to properly mix fuel for the '10 motor, lots of things are different between the two of them, and combustion will be different.

Have you gone through the transmission & axle(s) to get rid of the water that got into them when you submerged the truck?

BTW... a plugged catalytic won't blow any holes in the valve covers.

What do you have for OBDII codes from the computer?

My car is nisaan primera 2001 cvt transmission the car problem is while you are driving is shudderring i dont what is the main cause ?

the transmssion fluid may be degraded. you should change the fluid wih the exact recommended fluid that the dealer specifies. this may help unless the transmission is too worn out already. is the check engine light on? if so have that checked out first.

Does nissan maxima 2001 has a timing belt or chain .and after how many miles does that need to be changed.?

For the 2001 Nissan Maxima 3.0L SFI DOHC V6:
It has a Timing Chain.
Unlike Timing Belts, Timing Chains will normally last the lifetime of the car. However, when it is time to change the Water Pump: it is a really great idea to change the Timing Chain and Camshaft and Crankshaft Sprockets, as you are in the vicinity and have already torn down everything already.
Professionally, but not officially, I like the 100,000 miles rule with Timing Chains.

Let me know if this helped, or if you have additional information or questions. Feel Free to contact me at!

My honda SiR was submerged in water, what are the possible problems (mechanical etc..)that will occur in case it will be repaired?

It depends how deep the car was under water. If the computer or any electrical componets got wet, they are total junk now. Water destroys these items

What to do with my 2003 Grand Vitara submerged in flood waters

Let the system dry for quite a few days before trying to start, otherwise the computer could get ruined. Most water damages the coil packs and crank shaft position sensor. Hopefully water did not go inside your intake manifold and engine. It may not start. The best thing to do is let it thouroughly dry. Have a diagnostic test done to see if any sensors or circuits got ruined.

How do you fix the water pump on a 1997 nissan maxima? Where is the water pump located on a 1997 nissan maxima?

The water pump is located behind the timing chain cover. There are two black plates on the front cover. The one near the front of the car has the water pump behind it. The other one has the timing chain tensioner behind it. First you must drain the coolant. Then support engine and remove engine mount. Then remove drive belts. Then remove the two black plates. Push the tensioner in and lock it with a paper clip. Then remove the two bolts holding the tensioner and remove tensioner. Then remove the water pump bolts. Rotate engine crankshaft the take tension off of water pump (about 20 degrees). Then install two bolts into water pump threaded flange (M8). Tighten M8 evenly as water pump will come without damaging it. Check for corrosion. Then replace with new one. Make sure you use new "O" rings. Lubricate with engine oil. Put the original three bolts back in the water pump. Then install timing chain tensioner and black covers. Replace belts and engine mounts. Add coolant and pressure test system.
