SOURCE: how do you lift wiper arm to replace blade on

turn the key on, then turn the wipers on. Time it just right to turn the car off when the wipers are all the way vertical on the windshield. Now you should be able to lift the wiper blades up.

SOURCE: wiper blades

If your arm looks like a hook (which it should), once you find and press the little tab and then jiggle the wiper and firmly pull towards the open side of the arm hook, it should come loose. You will probably have to rotate the blade to the side to make space to clear the hook (sometimes the hook flexes the blade a bit which is ok). Be careful not to bend the arm but be firm.

FYI, All new replacement windshield wiper blades come with step-by-step, illustrated instructions.

Lastly, make sure you get not only the right length of replacement wiper, get the correct attachement. If you always use the application guide, you will get both: attachement and length. The application guides are at the store or you can go online to look them up (google something like lookup wiper size).

Hope this helps,
Jeff

You will need a 13-inch wiper blade for the rear window. 1 - When removing the wiper blade lift the wiper arm away from the window. ----- 2 - With one hand holding the wiper arm press the small tab on the underside of the wiper blade where it meets the wiper arm. ----- 3 - Slide the wiper blade off of the arm by pulling the center toward the bottom of the arm.----- 4 - Lightly lay the wiper arm on the window.----- 5 - Prepare your new wiper blade by taking the curved part of the plastic clip and line it up with the curve of your wiper arm. ----- 6 - Lift the wiper arm and press it through the center of the wiper blade up and over the plastic clip. 7 - Pull the wiper blade up until it clicks. Place the arm back on the window.

I have a 2007 Town and County. The rear wiper is not touching window by about 1/4 inch. I can press it back down but it will not stay once you turn on the wiper. How can I fix this problem?

If it is not touching the glass the arm is bent. Raise the arm away from the glass. Grasp the arm near where it is mounted to the body and near the wiper blade with the other hand. Slightly bend the arm toward the glass. Only bend the arm a very slight amount and check to see if there is enough pressure for the wiper blade to work correctly. Repeat this until the wiper blade cleans the glass properly. DO NOT over bend the wiper arm as too much pressure will cause the blade to wear out very quickly.

How do you replace the rear wiper on a 2009 Scion XD?

You can make use of following procedure to replace rear wiper in ur scion xd.
Pull the rear wiper arm away from the rear window in order to access the wiper blade.

  • Locate the hinge where the blade mechanism meets the wiper arm and squeeze the plastic tabs on the blade in order to release it from its locked position on the arm. In some cases, instead of tabs, there is a small button that must be pressed to release the wiper from the arm.
  • Detach the blade from the arm and slide the old blade out. Insert the new blade into the wiper arm and lock the blade in place.
  • Return the wiper arm to its set position. Before driving, wet the window and test the wiper to make sure it is operating properly.

Rear wiper in 2005 barely touches window. Need to

I have a 2002. I thought this problem got fixed before 2005. I couldn't get my arm off because of internal corrosion. I took the wiper blade off to get a little more swing with the arm. I oiled and swung the arm to get it loosened up. Then I bent the arm towards the glass to get more spring pressure and reattached the blade. That will work for a little while. You can get a new arm from Autozone #42536 for $28 plus shipping.

2000 ford explorer the rear windshield wiper moves but doesn't touch the glass.

The arm on the rear wiper is common to seize up where it pivots on the rivet. spray some penetrating lube like Liquid Wrench on it and work it free by pulling it toward you and pushing it toward the glass/window. you may have to bend the arm a little so it has more pressure on the blade against the window. Replacing the arm is always an option if it wont free up enough.
