Code P0405

CEL on, P0405
that dont effect engine running, nor can many more DTC>
DTC = errors.
405 is EGR.
if the egr is stuck open the engine stall.s
if it is not working dead, only the TEST FAILS.
true back to 1987 cars. (about)
its federal mandated test in the USA from then.

EGR is kinda simple on newer cars.
its a valve. and some have read back. telling the brain
hey, i didnt move.
id clean it first.
.
- EGR volume control solenoid valve
- EGR volume control solenoid valve harness is open or shorted
- EGR volume control solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection
- EGR temperature sensor and circuit

Service engine light comes on with obd code of p1404, p0405. What do i check ?

Code 1404 for Saturn cars means the computer thinks the EGR is not closing. But it can also mean the computer needs to be re-programmed. There are service bulletins for some models.
Code 405 is a problem with the EGR sensor which can be causing the other code.
Generally the sensor is telling the computer the valve is not closed when the computer commands it to be closed.
It may be tough to fix if the problem is not constant.

Getting P0405 , P0300 , P2670 code what is that

P0405 means Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit Low. It may caused by Short to ground in EGR signal or Reference circuits or voltage in EGR ground or signal circuits;Bad EGR valve; or Bad PCM wiring issues due to chafing or loose terminals.
P0300 is Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected. It may be something wrong with spark plugs or wires, coil, oxygen sensor, fuel injector, etc.
As for P2670, it seems for the Actuator Supply Voltage "B" Circuit Low.

I replaced the EGR on my 1999 saturn due to a P1404 code. After driving it for about a week code came back. The idle was not stable, this was the reason why I replaced the EGR. Now the idle is rough at...

i would remove the egr and just the passage to make sure it is not filled with carbon. common problem. here is some info for you as well.

Circuit Description

The linear EGR system consists of a linear EGR valve, the PCM, and its associated wiring. The EGR valve solenoid is controlled directly by the PCM when certain conditions have been met. The PCM contains a diode feedback circuit which dissipates energy when the valve is cycled OFF. When the PCM commands the EGR valve closed, a closed valve position value is learned. If the PCM commands the valve closed and the actual feedback value does not match the learned values, DTC P1404 will set.
Conditions for Setting the DTCImportant: When the PCM recognizes that the parameters for setting DTC P1404 have been set, the diagnostic software waits until the EGR cycles open 50 percent or greater 4 times and then resets. If after the 3 cycles the actual vs learned is not within the parameters, the DTC will be stored and the MIL, service engine soon, will be commanded ON.
Important: When this DTC sets, functions will be disabled. When repairs are complete, codes must be cleared and the ignition keyed OFF for at least 10 seconds to allow proper operation.
DTC P1404 will set when the actual closed value does not match the learned closed value within 20 seconds if:
• RPM is below 5,000 and the actual vs learned is greater than 0.2 volts. OR • RPM is above 5,000 and the actual vs learned is greater than 0.4 volts. Diagnostic Aids • Check for backed out or damaged terminals. • Check for a stuck open EGR pintle. Inspect the EGR pintle valve bore for carbon or debris and remove. Verify that the pintle moves freely and the return spring forces the pintle closed. • An open in circuit 452 will result in DTC P1404. • A short to ground is circuit 697 will result in a severe rough idle and driveability complaint and set a DTC P1404. • Compare the learned closed pintle position to the actual closed pintle position with the key ON and the engine OFF. If voltage differs more than 0.15 volts, check for backed out, damaged, poor terminal tightness, or an intermittent open in circuits 416 or 1456.

2007 Dodge Grand Caravan Engine Light Code P 0405 ?

P0405 is an Exhaust Gas Recirculation fault. This could be a faulty valve. You could try cleaning the valve first, chances are it will need to be replaced in the long run. Hope this helps...

Dtc p0405 & p0406 these codes came up when i checked my dtc and would like to know what the codes are and what is needed to correct the problem. any help would be appreciated. I changed the oil and the...

The DTC P0405 is for (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor Circuit "A" Low)

DTC P0406 is for (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor Circuit "A" High)

This would indicate a problem with the EGR valve sensor, or the EGR valve itself is malfunctioning.

1998 Chevy Truck 1/2 ton 350 engine. Trouble codes P0404, P0405 and P1404. I replaced the EGR valve. Now I get t/c P0404 and P0405. Now what should I check?

404 is exhaust gas recirculation circuit, and 405 is exhaust gas recirculation sensor circuit low. EGR sensor or ground?

Fault codes p0420 and p1404 on 1998 pontiac grand prix - solution

the po420 is catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1)

the p1404 is a mfg specific code. egr valve stuck open or circuit performance

if this car is mostly city driving you might be able to clean up the egr valve and it might clear up the codes

Exhaust Gas Recirculation System Is the main problem here. the other code P0118 may be a bad temprature sensor or your thermostate needs to be changed. Last it could be a weak water pump.

So what is an EGR system and how does it work? EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation, and as its name implies, this system allows exhaust gasses from your car to be re-circulated into the engine, helping to reduce emissions. These systems are mostly comprised of the EGR valve, a DPFE (Delta Pressure Feedback EGR) sensor, hoses, a vacuum regulator, some vacuum lines, wiring, the computer and the exhaust tube leading to the valve itself.
The car's wiring can be tested in the normal fashion by looking for broken and lose wire, and all vacuum lines can be checked easily for cracks, leaks and correct routing.
The last thing i would then check is the the EGR valve, EGR vacuum regulator and DPFE sensor (or similar flow sensor).
I hope this helps and good luck
