2002 Cadi Deville, can't get any locks to operate with remote or dash push buttons, the remote operates everthing but the locks! When the remote door lock is pressed, lites flash,horn blows locks not.


Power Door Lock Operation
The vehicle is equipped with power door locks. Each lock actuator is powered and controlled by the door module mounted in the individual door, but the rear integration module (RIM), which is the master control for the door lock system, determines when the lock functions are permitted. The RIM receives and examines the requested lock function from the individual door modules, or from the remote function actuator (RFA) via the class 2 serial data circuit. The RIM also examines the transmission shift selector position and the ignition switch position information available over the Class 2 serial data circuits. If the RIM determines that a lock or unlock function is permitted, it sends a class 2 message back to the individual door modules commanding them to perform that Lock or Unlock function.

The drivers side door lock will not actuate with the remote or the interior switch. The key will open and close the door. All other door locks function properly with remote and interior switch.


Suspect a defective door lock motor/actuator inside the door. The door will have to come apart to test for proper ground and power supply to determine if motor/actuator is bad.

1998 Continental; remote door lock intermittent using both fobs. Problem?


All of the locks don't function at times or just one door? If it is just one door the lock actuator is likely defective or the wiring harness to the door has a broken wire inside the wire insulator that runs through the rubber convoluted tube from the body to the door.

Automatic Doors won't function-How do I fix or what could be the problem


The door doesn't open with the remote or the in-car switch? I'd check the fuse, then check for power to the door actuator when the button is pressed. If there is power at the door actuator then I'd suspect a bad actuator motor. If there isn't power, please post back and I'll put my thinking cap on.

Mesage on center screen says RFA Battery low


Hello: The RFA stands for the Key Fob That you use to lock?unlock your doors. RFA stands for Remote Function Actuator.. Replace the battery. Go to Auto Zone and they should have the battery and probably not charge you to replace it.

How do i reset auto locks and unlocks on 2005 grand prix battery is good on remote


Dont know if this will help but it may work.. You may have to resyncronize the remotes , this is done by holding the lock and unlock buttons down together at the same time for 10 or 15 seconds and the door locks will cycle up and down once ,then do the same with the other remote then syncronization is complete... sometimes the cars remote function actuator forgets which signal to watch for or it gets confused...lol hope this helps

Door Locks


Sounds like you have an electric lock actuator going bad. It only takes one and they all act up.The vehicle security module and the switches share the same ground. It is ground #900. Located on the left C pillar. Check to see if the ground is clean and tight. You can disconnect one actuator at a time. If you disconnect the bad one, the rest will function.Did you have any doors making a loud grinding noise when the locks were applied?if yes, start with that one. If no, start with the drivers door.The drivers lock actuator sees more work than the rest since it unlocks by itself on the first push of the remote.If this is something you do not want to do,try the find a repairman option at the bottom of the page.
