Question about 2004 Ford Freestar

1 Answer

Sliding door Took my freestar in for a recall to replace the panels that latch on to the 3rd seat and since I got it back, the left power door does not open. When you press the button, the door unlocks but the motor does not kick in to open the door. I suspect they disconnected the motor to do the recall repair and never reconnected it. I called the dealer and they said they had nothing to do with it. What do I do?

SOURCE: Power sliding door won't close properly on 2005 Freestar

U will need to buy a can of spray white grease and clean and then lubricate all the tracks the door channels on as well as all the latches for the door, this will cure the issue in most cases, did allot of these while working at a Ford dealer.

How to remove 3rd row seat

If your Freestar is similar to earlier Windstars, third row seat removal is approached from the rear with the tailgate open. There are two latches at the bottom that pull up to release the seat from its locked position. You tilt the seat forward and pull up then pull the seat back toward you to release.

Left sliding door stuck, will not open

In my case (on the right door being completley dead and manual button stuck) it had nothing to do with the fuel door, since the right door is not disabled ever by the fuel door. My cause of the problem was the door lock actuator module being worn out internally. I replaced the door lock actuator module (a sub assembly of the entire door latch/lock/motor assembly) and all is well. The part was about $73 from the Chrysler dealer. Afterward, I actually dissected the door lock actuator, and could see how the internal mechanism had jammed. By the way, the module had changed revisions (been supersceded) several times. the part number I got off the web was outdated. I'm really glad I physically took the part to the dealer and had him look up the latest, by vehicle and year, NOT by the part number off the item, or found on the web!

Driver,s door will not unlock. all other doors do.

I have this same problem but both my driver and passenger side doors are not stuck shut. I called Kia and they were not helpful AT ALL. They said they had not heard of this before which is a blantent lie. I then found out about the government agency that issues recalls and they have an online form that anyone can fill out to instigate a recall. Based on the number of posts that I have seen not only on this website but others I think it warrants a recall. This is a huge safety issue and they need to fix it. Please anyone having this problem file a claim, here is the website: www.safercar.gov.

Thanks!
