2010 mazda cx7 headlight bulb replacement - 2010 Mazda CX-7

SOURCE: how do I replace the headlight bulbs in my 2002 Mazda 626

On my Mazda I did the following:
- Pulled off the electrical connector socket from the back of the headlight housing.
- Pried off the rubber boot on the back side of the headlamp assembly.
- Removed the wire bracket surrounding bulb by removing the screw that held it in place, although it may be possible to remove the bulb without removing the bracket.
- Extract the bulb from the headlight assembly.

Reassembly was just the revrese of the above steps.

Go to page 8-35 (P. 331 in the pdf). Close the hood, you're in the wrong place. Remove the cover in the front of the wheel arch to expose the headlight assembly.

you need to take it to your local dealer and raise a big fuss because this is a known problem and if you yell loud enough you should be able to get this fixed under warranty.

Behind the head lamp you'll see a circular cap with some fins on it. Turn it counter clockwise and then it should come out exposing the back of the bulb. Then you will need to push in and up on an angle to release the metal spring clip that holds the bulb in place. Then you can disconnect the harness to the back of the bulb and then remove the bulb. Do not touch the glass of the bulb when putting in the new one as that will cause the bulb to catastrophically fail

Removing the bulb in a CX7 is a real PITA. If replacing the right bulb, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right, or do the opposite for the left side. (or you can opt to remove the entire wheel on the corresponding side) You'll need to remove 3-4 of the fender well clips with a phillips screwdriver being careful not to break them. Once the screws are removed, pry back the wheel well cover to access the back of the headlamp to change the bulb.
