I am replacing the axle on a 1998 Altima. I am having trouble geting it out of the transmission. It is on the right side.

The right axle is held in by three bolts. If you follow the axle towards the transmission there is a bracket the axle goes through before it reaches the transmission. On the other side of that bracket is three bolts. You will need a 12mm wrench and/or socket with a swivel extension to remove them. Once they are removed the axle should slide out, however, sometimes the axle becomes frozen in place. Simply tap the axle around using the ears where the bolts of the axle were removed and it should slide right out. When reinstalling the bolts, they torque back at 9-14 ft. lbs.
