Probably an unbalanced tire or even a hump on a tire could be the problem

Violent shake on highway


Unbalanced wheels shake a vehicle like that. It's hard to understand your earlier statement. It sounded like after you weren't moving anymore that it still shook. I am figuring that isn't what you meant.

bent rim or hub can cause this. rotate tire to confirm rim are ok and check run out on hub to confirm the hub are ok.

2000 pathfinder will hardly back up shakes bad


either the reverse gear is binding up in the trnsmission, the differential has issues or if its a stick(manual shift) the clutch needs adjusted or replaced..repost findings...

Check the ball joints and cv axles this could cause the car to shake violently and most tire stores will check them for you for free.
