Question about 2007 Pontiac Solstice Convertible

2007 solstice has lots of wind noise with the top up

When I have the top up, there is a lot of wind noise. Seems to be coming through right above the seat belts on the driver and passenger side. How can I adjust the top to cut the sound out/down?

Tape various areas where you think the problem is then road test it to see if it made a difference. If so you will have to find some way to alter the wind travel. If not, get out and move the tape to another suspect area.

SOURCE: stuck seat belt

Remove the panels to the belt, normally these can miss roll and get stuck. Unbolt the unit so you can get some slack that should be enough to release and pull it back out to correct it. If that will not do it get a replacement from a junkyard and replace.

This car has self adjusters. They only work when the car moves in reverse and when the brakes are applied. Is that what you needed to know?

At Least Once a Year one should perform Parking Brake and Automatic Transmission Park (P) Mechanism Check...

Caution: When you are doing this check, the vehicle could begin to move. You or others could be injured and property could be damaged. Make sure there is room in front of the vehicle in case it begins to roll. Be ready to apply the regular brake at once should the vehicle begin to move.
Park on a fairly steep hill, with the vehicle facing downhill. Keeping your foot on the regular brake, set the parking brake.

• To check the parking brake's holding ability: With the engine running and transmission in NEUTRAL (N), slowly remove foot pressure from the regular brake pedal. Do this until the vehicle is held by the parking brake only.

• To check the PARK (P) mechanism's holding ability: With the engine running, shift to PARK (P). Then release the parking brake followed by the regular brake.
Contact your dealer/retailer if service is required

There is some information in the manual:-

Manual Transmission

Before leaving your manual transmission vehicle, fully press the clutch pedal in, move the shift lever in either FIRST (1) gear or REVERSE (R), and firmly apply the parking brake.

Park Brake Adjustment:-

Preliminary Procedures

1) Remove the front floor console.

2) Cycle the park lever several times. Verify the lever releases fully.

3) Turn the ignition ON. Verify the red BRAKE warning lamp is not illuminated. If the warning lamp is illuminated, verify the following:
3.1. The lever is fully released and against the stop.

3.2. There is not excessive slack in the cables.

3.3. If the warning lamp remained illuminated and there were no visible causes, refer to Symptoms - Hydraulic Brakes.

4) Turn the ignition OFF.

5) Raise and support the vehicle enough to raise the rear tire and wheel assemblies off the ground.


1) Ensure the park brake lever is fully released.

2) Loosen the cable tension adjusting nut just enough to back the nut away from the lever cam.

3) Tighten the adjusting nut just until slack in the front cable is removed and the nut rests against the lever cam. The park brake cable adjusting nut is a nylon lock type. Use ONLY HAND TOOLS whenever tightening or loosening the adjusting nut.

4) Cycle the park brake lever several times.

5) With the lever fully released, tighten the adjusting nut just enough to remove slack in the front cable.

6) Raise the lever 1 detent position, then attempt to rotate the rear wheels.
Both sides should require high effort to rotate.

7) Raise the lever 1 more detent, to the second position, then attempt to rotate the rear wheels.
One side should be locked, the other side should require high effort to rotate.

8) Raise the lever 1 more detent, to the third detent position, then attempt to rotate the rear wheels.
Both sides should be locked.

9) Release the park brake lever, then rotate the rear wheels to inspect for drag.
There should not be any drag from the park brake system.

10) Inspect the brake caliper park brake levers to ensure that they are resting against the stops.

Solstice converible 2007. tried to put the top on but it will not even reach far enough to latch. Just won't move forward enough.

If nothing is jammed, do it at high noon when the sun can heat and expand the top. It may have shrunk after being down.

Noise like an airplane coming from underneath towards back. Starts from first moving and gets louder with more speedlouder

Could you nr a bit more specific about where the noise is coming from? If the noise is coming from your engine compartment I would guess you have a large vacume leak. If it is coming from say the very back of your car it may be that your exhaust has been damaged or blown a hole in it which could create that noise. Or it could be something as simple as a wind whistle noise I have seen many times where a plastic cover underneath the car has come loose or had clips broken not to where it will fall of or drag but it will catch the wind just right to make a hell of a lot of noise. Just a few things to check that come to mind. hope this helps

where to begin , can you narrow down the area it seems to be coming from , first try spraying WD 40 on the drive belts one at a time if it stops change the belt, could be the tappets lots of options really , have to narrow down the area

Whistling noise coming from the driver's side. It seems to be coming from right behind my ear. It starts as soon as I hit 60mph and above. Can't pinpoint the exact location. Any help would be greatly...

If its a wind noise, you can tape over window seals, door cracks one at a time to help you pinpoint your problem area. There is no easy way to find those, just have to use the process of elimination.

not sure where it is but it means manifold absolute pressure ,basicly

I have a 2007 Toyota Sienna LE and have had windshield noise at highway speed with a cross wind. Dealers can't duplicate therefore deny any problem. I've asked that they remove and re-install the w/s but...

Please try an remove the front roof rack. This may be your problem. You likely never use it anyway! Do let me know if this solves your whistle.

Hearing wind and road noise from right front of car and sunroof.

check the seals the rubber around window has anyone put anything on top of your car open the sunroof check the inside as it closes / to move the sunroof up or down after resting there are bolts on ech side at front theat you can un bolt push up and tighten up/ thanks for using fix ya please rate my response thank you very much
