Question about 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GT
I try to start it but the starter clicks once and it wont go from there. wait a couple days and randomly it will start. but when it does start there are no problems with it. doesnt bog down or randomly stall or die. just has issues turning over once in a while
This is a trick some folks do to figure out if it's the starter. When the car doesn't crank, take something like a bat or a metal bar and hit the starter and few times. If the car starts right away then it's your starter, otherwise you might consider the fuel pump relay/fuel pump.

If the vehicle cranks normally when not starting check the tach see if it is reading any engine speed. Sounds like the crank sensor is going bad very common fault on the 3800 series 1 & 2 engines. You must remove the harmonic balancer to replace the sensor.

Take your car to a dealer and tell them to "clean the throttle body" Known problem for this year. It will solve your issue.

My Pontiac Grand Prix is also a 99, it has 216,+ thousand miles on it, it runs great, idles good, I need to replace the oxygen sensor tho as it shuts off on me while driving or sometimes coming to a stop. You might try checking the fuel filter and pump as well.
