How to determine if 2008 Highlander CV joint is bad

When driving the vehicle I can feel a bump through the steering wheel that seems to match the rotation of the tires. I've had the tires balances & rotated but problem remains. Note: I do't feel the bump through the brake peddle.

Drive in as tight of a circle as you can clockwise then counter clockwise and listen for a clicking sound. try giving it some gas while doing this. no noise means its still good. could also be a flat spot in tire if car sat for a couple months in one spot. even a balanced tire can have a bump in it

SOURCE: 2004 camry, vibration right front

If the wheel is in balance and there is no other signs of what is causing the vibration than yes that cv joint should be chk. Is the strut ok? might want to chk. that too.

SOURCE: grinding feeling in left wheel

This sounds like your CV joint is bad if it is a front wheel drive. The CV joint will click or thump when you are turning. It will also make your front wheels shake if it is realy bad.

Why is there a clicking noise when steering wheel turned to extreme left?

It always helps to know what kind of car you have, but my best guess with no information is, you have a front wheel drive vehicle and the left CV joint is going bad. The joints will make a clicking sound when they are at the extremes of their travel when going bad.
Sorry, I just noticed your vehicle is shown. I am going with the CV joint answer.

I have a 2008 Infinity QX-56 and it shakes terribly when I apply the brakes when driving at highway speeds. It also feels like the suspension is bad when you go over a bump or hit a pot-hole.

Warped brake rotor usually cause high vibration at high speeds. But you can also feel it at lower speeds. But bad ball joints and tie rod end will cause vibration at high speeds. Ball joints will pop at pot holes, sometimes. Tie rods can be felt in the steering wheel at a stop. Move the wheel slightly to the left and right, you can feel/hear a tap as you turn it.

Vibration coming from front axle when coming to a stop it gets worse, brakes are good , maybe cv joint?

if you feel the pulsation in brake pedal when stopping. its a warped brake rotor thats causing it. for bad cv joint symtoms--- Unusual noises when making turns. As you are driving on the road and you make a turn at the corner, if you start hearing unusual sounds coming from under the car then this is one of the symptoms of a bad CV joint. These noises will sound like something is clicking beneath the car every time you turn the steering wheel. Evidence of a damaged boot. Steering wheel feels heavier. The steering wheel will start to feel tighter and heavier and you can hardly make simple turns to the left or right. In severe cases you might even feel heavy vibrations like you are driving down a rocky road.

Could be a ball joint , tie rod , bad tire or wheel bearing. That's pretty much everything. Unless its front wheel drive? Then a CV joint can be added to the list :)

When I drive slow over bumps/speed bumps I hear a noise in the right front wheel well. The car does not seem take bumps well but seems to be better going over them at higher speeds. Shocks? Struts?...

It could be a bad Shock/Strut, Ball Joint or a bad CV Axle. Put the car on a lift and try to move the parts around to try to isolate the noise.

STEARING SEAMS TO BE STIFFER AND SHAKING COMING THROUGH THE STEARING WHEEL AND WHEN YOU APLAY THE BREAKS YOU CAN FEEL BUMPING THROUGH THE BREAK PEDAL AND ALSO FLIKEREING ON THE SPEEDO

you may have bad CV joints. Each halfshaft has an inner and outer cv joint. One halfshaft going to each front wheel. Check to see if the rubber boots are split and all the grease leaked out.

2002 ford f250 v10 when making turns in four wheel drive the front end starts poping as you turn. you can feel it in the steering wheel and hear it.

Four wheel drive is designed to drive on grave or mud. You will always have a feeling within the steering wheel and the truck will feel as though it is hopping , this is normal on dry pavement. How ever you shouldn't hear noise this is an indication that your universal joint on your front differential shaft is worn. You should have both changed if you are considering driving it in four wheel drive a lot in the conditions that the vehicle was designed to drive in, slippery, muddy, ect.

Popping noise when i turn my pickup sharply to the right

From the title above, I can't determine what year/make/model of truck/car you're asking about. So, my answer is somewhat generic and may not be applicable.

A popping noises when turning almost always indicates a worn or damaged outer CV joint. To verify this condition, place the vehicle in reverse, crank the steering wheel to one side and drive the vehicle backwards in a circle. If the noise gets louder, it confirms the diagnosis and the need for a new CV joint or replacement shaft assembly.

Look at your steering linkage and check for noticeable damage (loose nuts/bolts or damaged boots). Also, check the bolts/rivet holding your crossmember in place (I've seen these work lose and under pressure from turning one way or another will shift and pop). If your vehicle is a 4X4, it could be inner tie-rod (drag link) or other associated linkage.

Feel free to post some additional info about your problem and vehicle and I'll try to narrow the field.

Hope this helps and good luck.
