2002 Montero limted is making a rubbing noise and stops when i apply tje breaks and I've heard 4 beeps from inside with no lights. I need help. I do have a bad rear converter....please help.

You need new wheel bearings.

    Are wheel bearing in the front and hub bearings in the rear? What am I to expect or happen until able to be fixed? What damage is it causing and will it effect? Worried single parent.....

    I noticed you have a bad rear differential. this would also cause a humming sound. could eventually seize and cause the rear wheels to lock up.

    I have a rubbing sound as I drive when I apply the breaks it stops and cont as I realease the breaks. I've heard inside the car a beep beep beep beep coming from the console without a light coming on. My brakes rotor all round are new and I've been told my calipars are rusty. I don't have any steering or braking issues just this annoying noise. Any suggestions.

SOURCE: front wheel rub/grind not breaks

is the steering over locking,and catching the track rod end
is it a wheel balancing wieght catching on the steering jiont
is it the hub bearing /flange worn or loose
is the brake caliper loose
are the brake pads low
is the back plate catching on the brake disc

look for rear wiper fuse and relay.because both circuits is tie together . look in glove compartment for the manual .it will show where all fuses and relays located.

SOURCE: Rear Speaker in Montero Limited is bad

Item 21 (the upper interior trim piece) needs to be removed, prior to removing the bottom piece #22. The only screws that hold #21 in are at the handle at the top, then you just pop it out. There are about 6 screws on the bottom part.

its a low speed abs activation the problem is in the front sensors they need to be cleaned or replaced they [or one] probably has some corrosion on the sensor --[the 99 chevy tahoes had a limited recall over this issue and the fix was to remove and clean the abs sensor or if to corroded replace ] this problem doesnt set off an abs code or trouble light also sometimes the abs will activate by itself at under 4 mph without even touching brake

no brake pad linings
there is a small spring plate that rubs on the disc when the brakes are applied if the pads are below safe thickness

Sound from undercarriage when braking

See if the noise is also getting louder as you turn one direction or the other. The rubber rubbing sound doesn't ring bells but I suspect the bearings going out on one of your wheels. If it makes a noise when breaking but get louder or better as you turn one direction or the other I would bet bearings. I would look at that.

My anti lock brake light is on my 2002 mitsubishi montero limited

Shift into 4H for now, the light should stop flashing and then replace the freewheel clutch solenoid located under the air box at the fenderwell.

My 2002 chevrolet 4wheel drive makes a noise alot like that of a break rubbing.It stops as the speed increases, I changed all four brakes and rotors and also changed the universal at the rear end. what...

Make sure backing plates behind front & rear rotors aren't rubbing on rotors. Jack up each wheel individualy & spin. May also be emergency brake shoes rubbing inside drum inside rear rotors.

well it soulnd like you need new brakes and you can adjust the parking break by going in reverse and applying the parking brake

Hello i have a 2002 mitsubishi montero sport when it gets hot it makes noise when i turn more when i turn right then left and only when it is hot it sound like a cv joit maybe dont know o it only makes...

It also could be the brake rotor rubbing on the caliper pads as you turn, check the brakes before changing the cvu joint if the pad are worn and don't have much meat left replace them the noise may go away.

Just replaced calipers and pads on 2002 1500 Silverado LS/HD. Rear brakes make "rubbing" noise when driving; the noise immediately stops when I apply the brake. What's the rub? I've applied lube in all...

if your pads are new, it could be the one making the noise! in time it will go off, pads is still fitting itself to the worn part of the metal plate/shim!
