Dodge intrepid starter

My 2000 intrepid 3.2 will not start? At first I went to replace the starter and they tested it and it worked so I put back in. I went to start it and all the lights come on and I got one click out of the starter but no spinning or continual clicking. I'm at a loss, any help you can give would be greatful

SOURCE: How do I replace the starter on a 2000 Dodge Intrepid?

Before changing a starter, you need to do some testing. First, check that your battery is holding 12v or better. Next, check that there is 12v at the main connection on the starter. Then chjeck that with the key turned to "start" there is 12v at the small terminal on the starter. If not, check the relay that operates the starter.(it may be bad). If readings are good, and block ground and positive cable is connected and clean, replace starter.
To remove starter, disconnect positive cable from battery, unbolt starter, remove harness. Sometimes removal involves twisting unit and manuvering around stuff that's in the way. If you find that does not work, then remove whatever is keeping it from coming out. Yes: it comes out from underneath. (unless you see an obvious clear path to remove from above there is no set rule, just do what's easier) Replacement is the opposite of removal...no tricks. If your radio has an anti theft code, know it before you start or after you are finished it won't work. You will loose settings though.
good luck

SOURCE: parked 91 trooper went to start week later starter

you could try spining the engine with a 1/2 inch breaker bar and the socket for the crank bolt and see if the engine turns. If engine turns u cud check your ground wire and hot wire going to the starter.

I have a 2000 dodge intrepid i wanna no if there is a security think for the ignition i have no power to ther starter i change ignistions

For the security it allows for a cranking that the starter turning over but does not allow for spark,so you still have a starter problem , if there is a security it will be aftermarket it doesnt allow for start on the starter, you changed the ignition? on the wires is there any form of other connection going to a relay? if there is that is the aftermarket alarm

There is a large red wire that goes between a large terminal on the alternator and the battery, there is a fusible link along this circuit somewhere, I suspect one of the large encased fuses in the engine compartment fuse panel. To check this circuit, put a test light on that terminal on the back of the alternator, it should have power at all times.

I have a 2000 Dodge Intrepid with several problems. 1st being that the car does not start periodically. I turn the key and the lights come on but no start. It does after a few tries. 2nd being it has...

well the starting problem, start by checking the fuelpump,if it spins and doesnt start, but if you turn the key to start and it does nothing then take look at the starter, use a test light have someone hold the key in the crank position and test for power at the small wire at the starter if theres power and engine isnt spinning then replace the starter, the trany, i would start by first checking the fluid level, make sure engine is warm, with car at idle in park check level if the oil level is full in the trany then i would say its time for a trany shop to look at it, these cars have lots of trany problems. good luck.
