Question about Dodge Caravan
When the car is started and we go to put it into gear, the shifter won't move (even with the brake engaged). It takes restarting the car, sometimes several restarts, before it will move.
There is a sensor on the brake peddle that releases the shifter when pressed .its a safety thing .the sensor needs replaced or has come loose and has moved very slightly.

Look at the swith on the brake pedal, it shoud have two green wires on it. Make sure it is not melted or the wire is broken. If it is damaged you can connect the 2 wires together to get it into gear, but this should be temporary as it bypasses the neutral safety switch.

Darrell, The trans went into limp mode. 41te trans do funny things. The limp setting is so you can get home or to the dealer. As for the slipping , check fluid first. If ok scan for codes from trans...
