Where is the downstream hose located

p1406 is the Delta Pressure Feedback Electrical Sensor This sensor is located in the Exhaust Gas Re circulation system. The DPFE sensor measures the amount of exhaust flow when the EGR valve is open. So locate the egr valve and follow the pipe that has insulation on it there will be 2 pipe nipples on this pipe one of the hoses has fallen off or has a hole in it the code has identified the one closes to the exhaust manifold .

P1405 DPFE Sensor Upstream Hose Off Or Plugged
This is actually going to be real easy. There is a sensor with 2 rubber hoses. It probably has a hole in it. This is a black sensor with 2 screws to hold it in place.

This morning drove to pick up daughter and suddenly a loud sucking of air sound started from under the hood of my 01 ford escape, went to AutoZone and replaced a hose with a hole and the EGR(?) valve which...

Sounds like u may have clogged catalytic convertor-very common on these, causing excessive backpressure which is putting holes in the hoses. If the hoses with hole are the 2 rubber ones going to a sensor, you need to make sure you get special hose from Ford called DPFE hose. It is high heat resistant.

1999 FORD EXPEDITION 2WD 4.6L EGR VALVE,EGR CONTROL &EGR POSITION SENSOR REPLACED NO FIX STILL BAD FOW CLEANED HOSES

Remove the throttle body housing on the top of the intake, it is a 90 degree tunnel like small piece held by 4 small bolts, turn it over and look for two holes, these holes are for the EGR valve flow, they are probably plugged up with carboned crud, clean them out with the tip of a screwdriver if neccessary to remove all the crud, once its clean reinstall it and reset your check engine light, hope this helps, let me know

What is a BPT valve and does it effect the E.G.R. valve? Can you check a BPT valve?

My Nissan truck manual for the same engine does not say what it is or what it does but said how to check it. It said to take the hoses of the valve the top two hoses are likely at the same place and 180 deg from eachother. The last hose connector is perpendicular and at the bottom. It said to plug one of the top holes and apply pressure to the bottom hole while applying pressure to the bottom hole. Then you apply a vacume or suction to the open top hole. If you can pull air then the valve or casing is bad and should be replaced. This manual did not second refer to the E.G.R valve from the BPT. The BPT valve was under the Emissions control section. Once this valve has been checked it said to check the EGR valve connected close by. Similar test but air pressure was supposed to be more resistant or something, but may allow some air flow or something?

1997 Maxima Engine Light Code Sequence?

Its not the EGR tube that's clogged. Its the intake itself, where EGR bolts to it. There is about a 1/2 inch hole that cloggs and needs to be cleaned out.
