Question about Cars & Trucks
The ignition wires under the dash were disconnected to remove an added light that was wired into the ignition. When my brother removed it he couldn't figure out how they go back togather. Do you know which wires go where?
You need to access a wiring diagram of the car. You might find one online. If you can't, pick up a Chilton or Haynes book for the car. They have wiring diagrams.
Your local library might have them.

Disconnect Car Battery
I replaced the ignition switch in my wifes 2000 intrigue. (ignition mounted in front dash). I had to take off the knee bump trim and the trim around the instrument housing and remove the instrument cluster. Leave it connected and just lay it on the dash. You also need to remove the radio to get to one of the screws that hold the ignition switch module. Once you get that loose you can pull it out so you can disconnect the wires going to it.
If you need to replace the ignition module insert the key and turn to accessories, there is a small metal button to push in, then your key and the lock part will fall out to install into your knew ignition module. At that time you can also remove the cruise control cable.
I am not a mechanic and the whole process only took me an hour or so.
I replaced my ignition module to fix the heater and AC operation. It also fixed the cruise control that hadn't worked for a year.

With the car off. Put the park brake on and put it in reverse. When the light comes on take a test light and see witch wire has power.

I know this post is a bit older, but...
You have to remove the right most vent.
--To do this slide a thin, flat screwdriver on the tops and bottoms of the vent to press the spring clips.
Behind it is one last bolt (10mm) that holds it on.
Hope it helps sammy

The brake light switch is located on a bracket under the dash near the top of the brake pedal arm. To remove switch, disconnect wiring, loosen locknut and unscrew switch. Replacement is reverse procedure. To adjust, screw in switch until operating button is fully depressed by pedal arm, tighten locknut and reconnect wires. Check for correct operation of lights You may have to unscrew switch slightly to get best operation..
