follow the upper rad. hose from the rad. to the other end. It should be under the throttle body. I'm a certified Master Tec and these are not easy to do.

SOURCE: thermostat location

On a GM six clinder it is in the housing that the upper radiator hose is hooked on the upper intake. It is very difficult to remove with the exhaust cross over pipe in the way but is possible with some time.

SOURCE: oil filter location?

the oil filter is on top of the engine bay, it is under a plastic screw on cover towards the drivers side front of the engine next to the intake manifold, if there is a cover on the engine you might need to take it off to see it, the filter clips on to the back plastic screw on cover. it requires a large socket size to remove.

Where is the thermostat located in a 2004 pontiac grand am and how do i fix it?

Sorry for being slow to respond, really bad cold. The thermostat is right under the throttle body.If you follow the upper hose from the radiator to the engine you have found the t-stat housing. It IS possible to change the t-stat without removing the exhaust pipe but you must be willing to fiddle around due to limited access.
