SOURCE: timing belt or chain
Ummmm woahhh hold up here...every 2.7 litre V6 i've been associated with had timing CHAINS. The chains ran the water pump and dual over head camshafts.
The 2.7l engine was manufactured by Mitsubishi for Chrysler and had an internal water pump with defective seals that allowed coolant to leak & mix with the oil causing severe sludging problems and eventual engine FAILURE...This has been a nightmare for Chrysler AND OWNERS !
MANY owners have contacted ISG Impartial Services Group 1-(866)332-3746 for a settlement with Chrysler
Attached is a cutaway view of the 2.7 litre, and as you can clearly see it is chain driven.
I've been a MOPAR enthusiast all my life...sadly, this engine was one of the worst to ever hit the streets.
Good luck Doug...i hope this helps.

Crank mark is obvious but cam marks arent. There are two notches in the tin timing covers behind the cam gears. At about the 2 oclock positions

Testimonial: "Thanks! Turns out we busted the valves when we tried to turn her over, but this would have been great advice if I had asked before hand."

If there is no spark that means either the spark plugs are faulty or the coil pack is faulty. The spark plugs receive power from coil pack to spark.
You can check out for 12 volt on coil pack.If there is 12 volt on the coil pack then the spark plugs are faulty and needs replacement but if the coil pack does not show exact 12 volt that ignition coils needs replacement. But as you mentioned that you replaced the water pump then this indicates that if the timing is not set right for timing belt then this can also be the cause of no spark, other possibility is faulty crankshaft sensor or loose connected sensor. It has to be checked.because all this parts are removed while replacing the water pump this can be the possibility that misalignment is cause of no spark. But if you are confirmed that all parts properly fitted and the timing belt timing is set exactly then the spark plugs or coil packs are faulty.Check with multimeter to confirm the fault.
Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this
solution and show your appreciation.
