SOURCE: 1999 Ford Windstar, Grinding Noise when brakes are pressed

Sounds like the pads are worn out and are grinding on the rotors. You will likely have to replace the pads and rotors.

SOURCE: when u press on the brakes on my expedition, i hear air escaping.

If it is a constant hiss with your foot on the pedal, you have a bad brake booster. If you hear a hiss, and nothing else while holding the pedal, it is the air escaping from the booster boot, and should not pose a problem.

SOURCE: my brakes are making a hissing noise when i let

you mean you hear air in the cab down by the pedal. If thats the case your power steering assist is leaking. Its the big black unit behind the brake master cylinder. It may set a check engine light at times for lean condition.

Brakes are hard to press down and does not stop truck, when releasing brake the engine idle falls and it almost dies

The power assist unit just behind the master cylinder is not working and has a huge vacuum leak. That is causing the idle rpm to fall.

1996 Buick Park Avenue Ultra making a hissing noise when I press Brake Pedal. Have to Press super hard to stop or slow down.

Sounds like a possible air pocket in the braking system. Do you know how the bleed the brakes? They may need to be bled. Also, if you've added brake fluid recently, and didn't put the cap back on, it could create a suction. Another note is to check the cap to the brake fluid reservoir. It's rare, but, it could be bad.

Brake Problem

yes but up to a point
the brake pedal should move about 1" to take up the pedal free play and then be applied smoothly as you press further
the harder you press the more solid stopping action you will get
that way you can feel the brakes working so that you can adjust the braking action for stopping
there should be no hissing noise that occurs when the brakes are being applied
you say hydro booster which is hydraulic booster but a hissing noise will come from an air leak in a vacuum brake booster which indicates that it needs repalcing

Brake pedal hard 2 press, can hear a hissin sound.

the hissing sound is most likely the vacuum leaking past the seal in the brake booster & that is why the brake pedal is hard because you don't have any power assistance, the brake booster will have to be replaced.......hope this helps.....cheers.

Brake pedal hard to press has a hissing sound

Check the vaccume line going to the brake booster. BUT if you can hear a hissing sound from inside and the pedal is hard to press more than likely your going to need a new brake booster and a new brake master cylinder.

I have excessive brake travel, and a hard time 98 chevy blazer

Two issues...
The brake booster has a ruptured diaphragm. Replace the booster.
It is located under the hood between the brake master cylinder and the firewall.

Your master cylinder may be leaking fluid internally past the plunger.
Have it examined when you change the booster.
