If you cannot see the levers or pull handles on the floor by the drivers seat or under the dash then there are no pull levers.

There is releases above the seat, if the handle does not move, the key can be used to unlock the seat backs. The handle in the trunk (boot) glows in the dark to release.

That sounds like the petrol pickup pipe in the tank has an air leak and when the fuel is dropping down below the leak it is sucking in more air than petrol.
The most likely cause of that is either the gauge sender untit or the fuel pump itself leaking (if the fuel pump on that car is inside the tank).

Testimonial: "Hey that was fantastic. Perhaps I should have tried the flap when car was locked but have been used to non-european cars which always seem to have a button or leaver. Thanks for the solution."

Why can't I open metal flap cover for access to petrol cap?

Usually there's a cable running to a lever, near the floor, just left of the driver's seat; you should see it when you open the car door. If the cable breaks, I'm not sure what you can do to get it open. Some shim stock might release the cover if you shove it into the latch side of the cover.

I can't open door of gas tank, when all doors are unlocked, audi A4 2009. is there other way to open that manually?

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Try going through the trunk. There might be a cord or an access port that you may be able to find to get through. It should be on the same side as the gas tank port/gas cap. If your manual gas tank opener is not working, you might be able to get a hold of the cable and pull it. There is a cable that opens it.

How do you remove a petrol pump from an audi coupe

It is mounted on the inside top of the fuel tank. If there is no access panel above the fuel pump inside the car, then you will have to remove the fuel tank in order to get to the pump for replacement. Pump as much fuel out of the fuel tank as possible before removing the tank.

Faulty petrol gauge

I had same problem with petrol gauge bouncing around all over the place, full tank, half a tank and nearly empty in the space of 10 miles.

I knew that if I filled the tank I would get approx 200 miles for half a tank so I did that for a while and just kept topping up. Audi testing it and the fuel sensors in the tank had to be replaced. I'm afraid its the only permanent solution!
