A no bu5 message appears on the dashboard

that message is probably "no bus" which means the instrument panel is not communicating with the body computer or engine computer.
It could be a bad connection in the wiring or a problem with the cluster.
You can do an internet search for "no bus" for details.

Security lite comes on an odometer reads no bu5 it will jus turn over

What you are seeing is NO BUS. The bus is the vehicle data communication line that runs from all the computers on the vehicle. either you have a corroded or broken wire somwhere on the vehicle or one of the computers has stoped talking to the others. If one stops working it can pull all the rest off line . need a scan tool to try and communicate with each controller. usually it will help steer you in right direction

There is a drain on the battery somewhere and then all gauges stop working and get code bu5

No bus refers to the communication bus between all the computers. These are the wires the computers share information on.
When you cluster says no bus it means the cluster can't communicate on the bus.
The whole bus network could be down or the cluster could be defective. Any module on the bus could fail and bring down the bus too

Next time that check engine light comes on stop at auto zone or advance auto and ask them to read the codes from your ECM. That will tell you where the problem is.

No bu5 light is on

It is "no bus". It means the cluster is unable to communicate with the other controllers through the PCI bus. The engine controller tells the cluster fuel level, engine temp, and oil pressure. The transmission controller and ABS tell the cluster to display speedometer functions, warning lights and such. Air bag communicates when to turn the light on and so on.
