Question about Saturn SC2

Open Question

I have a 94 saturn sc2 the car was running rough rough idle and stalls from time to time. I thought it was a lifter but my timing chain was stretched and guides and tensioner were ate up I replaced those and did timeing in proper installation. when my car was running it made a real dogging out sound almost like a diesel just putt putt putt made it to my house parked and in the morning doing investigations with a mechanic said no bent valves. now it just cranks but not acting like its doing much what else do I need to test. everything else was working well before timeing guides and parts internally wore and the chain could not grab anymore.

Start by replacing the air filter and checking the operation of the fuel pressure regulator. Have the stored codes read out of your ECU, either by an auto parts store or a local mechanic, in order to ascertain a starting point for diagnosis.

1993 Saturn SC2 will not crank, but tries to turn over?

You are saying the engine cranks but does not start, right ?
Does it sound like it has compression ? If not could be a broken timing belt.

I reinstalled my timing chains on the escape 2001. Once the required temp. of engine is reached, a rattle or rough idle of engine can be heard inside the cabin.First i thought the valve lifters, but...

Double check your timing. Make sure that your belt is tight, and not over tightened, make sure that any bolts the you took out are put back in correctly. Those would be your only issues that I could think of.

Check to see it th chain guides are worn. this can cause a retarded or advance on timing. Also do a compression check if you can, this will show that the valves are opening and closing on time. Run some injection cleaner through it first as a sticky injector could also be an issue.

2001 ford explorer sport,6 cylinder, rough idle and stalling....unplugged mass air sensor...seems to idle fine then...can u help me?

If there is a Auto Zone around your area, have them scan the Explorer for any DTC codes since it's fee of charge. But in the mean time buy a can of MAF cleaner and follow the instructions and also buy a can of Trottle body cleaner and follow the instructions on the can. Clean the MAF and the Throttle body, also try to get the Idle Air Control falve cleaned too which is on the throttle body. So use up the whole can of Throttle body cleaner and it would not hurt to use two cans. Once everything is cleaned that should fix the problem, the other thing to that would cause your poor idle and stalling is a bad or dirty EGR valve which can be cleaned with Carburetor cleaner since it's stronger then the Throttle body cleaner, just remove the EGR and spray the Carbon build away and place back in place. Note: the Carb cleaner is to strong for the gaskets used on the throttle body so don't use it on the throttle body. Good luck and this should help get your Explorer running 100% soon.

noise is caused by lack of oil to lifters, or worn timeing chain. if noise is from lifters it should go away wit proper oil level, if still there needs timeing chain.
