Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

When I try to start my 2001nissan sentra gxe, it takes forever to start up. The fuel pressure regulator has already been replaced and the fuel pump works. Once I get the car started it idles fine but after driving it a little bit it feels like it wants to cut off. When I do turn the car off I have to go through the same routine again regardless if I try to restart it right away or if I let it sit. I'm at a loss and have no Idea what could be causing this. Any suggestions would be greatly aappreciated. Thanks

I have seen this problem before, the distributer uses an optic sensor that sort of sees through a wheel and counts the number of windows in the wheel to determine crank position, ignition timing and injector pulse. This wafer like wheel becomes loose in its housing and causes crazy problems with starting and performance. I hope this helps. You may need a new distributer

I just replaced the fuel pressure regulator and now I am hearing a vibrating noise from the fuel line under the truck. What do you think the problem is.

How to change a 2005 nissan sentra fuel pressure regulator

If you want to replace the fuel pump regulator you are better off getting the whole fuel pump module I know its expensive. The problem is you went on line and there is a bunch of chatter about the fuel pump causing delayed starts. They are right. There is a TSB Nissan put out this includes the fuel pump and there is no mention of the regulator that I know of.

My daughter car :Nissian Sentra 2002. GXE 14.8 troubling starting

The pump does have a filter on it but you should also have an inline fuel filter somewhere underneath your car, Check the pump when you turn the ignition key on the pump should run for a second or two then shut off if you can hear it , it is working. It is rare for a vechicle not to have an inline fuel filter but there are some models that don't have one. The filters on the pumps usually don't stop up that often,it's pretty rare.I would try to replace the inline filter call and ask your local part store if they have one for it and you will know for sure. And usually if the crank sensor is bad it won't crank at all.

PO300 and PO430 codes for a 2001 nissan sentra GXE

Check fuel pressure it should be 34psi and with vaccum removed from regulator it should be 43psi. Low fuel pressure can contribute to misfires.

Nissan Almera 52 plate. not starting when it stalls.

One of the items you can try is to turn on the ignition switch, so the dash board lights come on, and wait 10 seconds before you start the engine. You have an electric fuel pump and it must build up pressure so you have the correct volume of fuel going to the fuel injectors. The fuel from the fuel pump goes to the fuel rail that supplies fuel to the fuel injectors. There is a pressure regulator to keep the fuel at the proper pressure. The excess fuel is then returned to the gas tank. On my 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R SPEC V, I had similar problems. By waiting this amount of time I have ensured the pressure was up in the fuel delivery system and it was working as designed. I may have a bad check valve which then allows the gas to drain from the fuel rail, but I have not gotten this far yet in my own repair. This has allowed my car to start and not flood out, if it stalls as I had seen before. You may be experiencing the samething.

If your check engine light is on, you may have fouled spark plugs, check these out also, especially if you are seeing cylinder misfire in one or more cylinders.

My sentra takes about 4mins to start in the morning.

Check the fuel system. make sure that the fuel filter is clean and working. Also check the choke settings. It seems that the choke is not engaging. try to press the accelerator all the way to the floor before starting the car. This will engage the choke. Then push it at least half the way down and try to start it. If not , the choke is the problem.
