My serpentine belt is loose and I'm not sure where to tighten it. How do I tighten the belt?

It has an automatic spring loaded tensioner. If it is loose either the belt has stretched beyond its reach or tensioner is bad.transdoc.jpg

How to tighten altenator belt on a 2003 Honda civic Non V-tech engine

Having someone pry up while you tighten at least one bolt to secure is very helpful. The screech is most likely due to a loose belt. You don't want it super tight, however there should be approx. a 1/4 in deflection when you press down on the belt when tightened.

Change drive belt //

check this out 02bdcd0.jpg
loosen the the two bolts (show on the figure above) first
loosen also the bolt used for adjusting tension.
remove the old worn-out belt.
place the new belt (you may need to loosen further the tension adjusting bolt)
when belt is properly place, tighten it enough the tension adjusting bolt,
(not too tight, but not too loose) press the belt to ensure its not too loose!
When belt tightness is enough, tighten the the other lower one of the two bolt then the lastly tighten the pivot bolt.
gookluck!!!!
