Question about Cars & Trucks

2000 Chevrolet Blazer 4.3. I just replaced upper & lower intake, gaskest, rotor & distributor cap. It starts, idles extremely high for about 10 seconds then shuts off. Is it timing or intake? Thank You

Yes, your vehicle does have a cap and rotor, many newer vehicles do not, that maybe why they are confused.

The firing order for a Chevy s10 depends on which engine you have. 1.9L engine the firing order is: 1-3-4-2 . Distributor rotates counterclockwise. 2.0L engine the firing order is: 1-3-4-2 . Distributor rotates clockwise. 2.5L engine the firing order is: 1-3-4-2 . Distributor rotates clockwise. 2.8L engine the firing order is: 1-2-3-4-5-6 . you have to remove the distributor, fuel lines, all electrical connections. remove the bolts (carefully, so not to break them), and the intake should come off. you may have to stick a screw driver between the intake and the block but be careful not to mark up the mating surfaces.

SOURCE: I have gotten a P0306 Cylinder 6 Misfire Code on a

I investigated this for over an hour while tossing things around in my head and truly think that you need to have your O2 censor checked along with your converter. One probable cause to your misfire could very well stem from your catalytic converter due to an O2 faulty etc.etc. Why not try a smog shop before tearing that engine apart any further and replacing any unnecessary gaskets. Thats a tight engine in my opinion and unless you really mistreat it, I would bet on it at race day. Have you recently been in a fender bender? Let us know cause that might change my advice.

How to install cap and rotor on a 2000 chevy blazer 4.3ltre v-6

Disconnect the wires and take pictures with cell phone for reference to ensure you don't cross them when reinstalling the new distributor cap. Remove the two torque screws in the distributor cap and remove the distributor cap to access the rotor. Remove the rotor by lifting straight up and inspect the distributor for any condensation and corrosion. Clean the breather screen at the bottom of the distributor before installing the new rotor which just slides back in place. Install the new distributor cap and tighten the new torque screws, make sure you do not over torque the screws since the distributor housing is plastic and prone to stripping. Reattach the spark plug wires and start the engine and idle for 5 min and go for a test drive. Good luck and you may want to also buy spark plug boot lubricant to ensure the spark plug wires are fully installed when placed back on the new distributor cap and recheck connections after test drive. Keep me posted, be glad to know your blazer is running 100% and please rate.

I currently own a 99 Blazer, 6cyl 4.3L, 4 door, auto trans. My check engine light is on, and the local shops cant pinpoint the problem, except that cyl 2, 4 and 6 are randomly misfiring. I have changed...

If you not running the OEM cap and rotor that's where your problem may be. The after market cap and rotor is not as heavy as the OEM and when the two screws that hold down the cap to the distributor is torqued to high,it warps the cap and that's where your problem may be. Remove the cap and inspect the inside and look for abnormal arching, you may want to replace the cap and rotor again. The other thing to is the breather screen in the distributor is known to get plugged up with dirty creating condensation which promote corrosion in the distributor there was a service bulletin from GM to service the screen when working on the distributor or during tune up's. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, be glad to help.
