Electric windows not working

Check the fuses first and then the window switches themselves. You will have to remove them and put a meter on them. You can cross the wires to see if the window will go up or down. If you can do it by crossing the wires then the switch is bad.

No power to power windows

Have you actually checked for power at the driver's master switch?
I don't think there would be a window relay, there is probably a power window circuit breaker in the instrument panel fuse box.
If no windows work, pull the master switch out and check for one hot wire with key on. If none, check for broken wires in driver's door opening. Your ground for the windows will be in that group of wires too. Both must work for windows to operate. If you have power and good ground at the master switch, and no windows work, probably a bad master switch.

Usually, power windows use a circuit breaker, rather than a fuse, in the fuse panel under the driver's dash.
If any windows work or even make noise, it's not a fuse or circuit breaker problem. If no windows work, pull out the driver's door master switch and check for one hot wire to it with key on. If there is that, the ground for the windows originates at the master switch and runs back into the cabin to a nearby ground. One could check both power and ground with a test light or voltmeter. Check for broken wires in the group of wires entering the door. If either the power wire or the ground wire has broken there, the windows will not work. If both power and ground are good, possibly a bad master switch.

Driver window donot go up or down

Check all fuses first then pull switch and test for power at window switch. If power getting to switch, test wires going to window motor. 2 wires to motor, and depending on what way switch is pushed determines which wire will have power. Switch just reverses polarity to raise and lower, so one or the other wire should show 12 volt DC power when switch pushed. If power going to motor, double check you have good ground as well, and if so, motor is shot. You can also double check motor by connecting wires from motor to a 12-14volt cordless drill battery.

In the drivers door theres a wire that goes though the door hinge area inside of a rubber boot that breaks. you can check this as the big wire at the power window switch in the drivrs door will be dead with the key on. You can put a jumper wire from the positive of the battry to this wire and close the windows, and then go about the rest of the repair as you have time or can arrange to hire the work hired to be done. When I repair power windows I use a test light to find where power and ground are getting to or nor getting to. ( A test light is a tool that looks like an ice pick with a wire with a clip on the end coming out of the end of the clear handle, the handle has a light bulb inside of it and the light lights as the clip is connected to ground and the tip is touched to a powered place. likewise if the clip is connected to power and the tip is touched to ground the light will light.) With the key on the big power wire should become ( hot, light the test light) on the window switch. if it does your on to checking to see as the buttons are wored that power and grond are conveved to the different wires going to the different windows. You can with the door panel removed find the wire that connected to the power window motor for that window. Put the test light into the end of the connector and work the switch and ( see) the power with the test light. then connect the test light to power and (see) the ground being turned on by the switch, If it only works for going down and the power or grond is'nt there for going up you found the switch to be bad If the power with the key on is'nt there you are going to find the wire broken or the power window relay bad (seldom happens ( I've never found one bad))67626331.jpg The power relay looks like this837709203.jpg417995615.jpg 49842274.jpg

Passenger Window Problem

On the passenger door, look for a broken wire in the door opening.

So you found power on one of the two wires. That was with holding the switch in one position, either up or down, right? Try it again, now hold the switch in the opposite position as before, now the other wire that had no power the first time should now have power. If not, probably a break in the wiring, look in the door jamb. If not a broken wire in the passenger door, it could be in the driver's door.

You see, the power is reversible to the window motors. When power goes down one wire to the motor, the other wire serves as a ground. The ground path goes back to the driver's master switch, where the ground for all the windows originate. Ground wire from master switch carries power to ground somewhere inside the cabin. Since other windows work, your ground is good. but the pass. window is, or seems to be missing a wire. Check by looking for power on both wires, but the window switch has to be opposite from the first time for the second wire to have power. Only if both show power is the wiring good, but they wont both show power at the same time-the switch has to be in right position to show power.
I hope this is clear, post back if you don't understand.

Oh yes, use the ohmmeter function of your multi-meter to check the wires' integrity. Just don't have any power on any of the wires you are checking, but check between the pass. door and the driver's master. Check both wires that go to the passenger window. That should tell you if you have a break in the wiring.

Get a 12V test light or a volt meter. Check to make sure you are getting power from the load side of the driver's door switch when you are pressing the switch. Also check the wire at the window when pressing the driver's door switch. This will verify power going to the switch and power leaving the switch, in addition to ruling out a bad driver's door switch. The power for the window uses 2 different wires, one for use at the individual door and another for use at the driver's door. You will narrow down the bad location in the driver's door wire doing this. If you have power leaving the driver's door switch, but no power getting to the rear window, then the wire is bad somewhere along the line. Trace back the wire and check for power at different locations along the entire length of the wire to pinpoint the break/corrosion problem.
