Still could be the pump but you need to see if there is spark and fuel, and if there are any engine codes stored. The more info you can get the closer your get to the solution.
Look for cracks, heavy carbon build-up on inside of cap, a layer of corrosion on the posts, and burn marks. the rotor, check for cracks, corrosion build-up, the distributor, check for moisture, rust or damage on the pick-up, check the wiring to the coil and check the coil for cracks and if you have the service manual look at primary and secondary resistance, and ckeck the wiring from the ignition module to the distributor. Also keep in mind that it may be the ignition switch(located half-way down the steering column. Well good luck.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will check for spark next. Other than that, it's off to the garage for diagnostics and repair...ugh!
Hi Redbear,
update on the not-starting issue.
I swapped out the relays for the ignition and fuel, they're ok. I confirmed that the fuel pump is working, (i could hear it turn on when key was turned on). Battery is fine. I sprayed some ether in the air cleaner, wouldn't start so I took the cowling off to get to the plugs and distributor cap. For laughs, I turned the key and engine fired right up, i didn't touch anything at theis point, but i did jiggle wire connections, all felt tight, looked good. took the van for a spin around the block and back. I put the cowling back and engine will not run. now i'm completely lost.
if i take the cowling back off, what would i look for in the distributor/rotor cap to show a problem there possibly?
Thanks.
Ben
Check the connector to the CrankPositionSensor. These short out internally.
