This is how I flush the heater core...go to the garden department at Wal-Mart and get a 5/8 - 3/4" female garden hose connector similar to my picture...remove the upper heater core hose and connect your garden hose to the connector then to the heater hose and secure with a hose clamp. Remove the lower heaer core hose and point it to the gound, then turn on your faucet and run clean water thru it... b67bfc8.jpg

2003 ford windstar, my heater hose is leaking at the connection to iron pipe, I need a diagram to figure out how to fix

Most likely while you are in there it's time to replace the hose. Saves having to go back if it starts leaking on the other end which is highly likely given the age. There should be a return heater hose, it is probably in similar condition. Diagram may be available via google. Youtube may show you how to. A very bright led flash light will allow you to see and trace the heater hose. You'll need to drain the radiator save the antifreze if new. Replace if old. Any other cooling system hoses need to be replaced? How is the water pump. It's not the leak is it? Otherwise Library probably has repair manual, or may be time to invest in repair manual. Lightly used may be available on Ebay and others. New hoses are cheap insurance against possible failure.

How do i bypass the heater core on my 2001 gmc jimmy?

Check the heater hose sizes. Buy a connector to put the hoses together and hose clamps. Cut the hoses, insert the connector, and tighten the clamps.

If you just want to stop the coolant flow, go to any parts house and buy either a heater hose shut off valve (cut the hose, insert the valve, and install hose clamps) or buy an external hose shutoff that clamps the hose shut stopping flow.

I have a 1962 ford falcon. The hose, from what i

Aren't there hose clamps on the two hoses at the firewall? That hose should come off right there-one is connected to the heater core inlet inside the heater case, the other hose is connected to the heater core outlet tube. While you are at it, replace both hoses. Heater hoses are standard sizes, like only two sizes, larger is 3/4 " diameter. Take an old piece of your hose to parts store for replacement. They have rolls of heater hoses, can cut you off just what you need for low price.
If the hose clamps are not on the hoses at firewall, they must be accessed from under the dash, but should be easily accessible.
Really, a 1962 falcon? 50 years old and still going? That was the year I graduated high school, driving a 1957 Dodge two door black hardtop, yes, the big finned clown car-lol.

E60 heater

Yeah I had the same problem: First flush out the heater core and then replace the thermostate. I looked on youtube to see the right way to flush out my heater core with a garden hose. There is an inlet and an outlet. From memory the top hose is the inlet where you run the garden hose through. Be very careful when taking the hose off. I cut the hose at the beginning of the pipe and then cut the hose off the pipe as a safety measure. Connect the garden hose and run it through for about 15mins, you can also run the engine while this is being done. Re-connect the hose and then change the thermostat. You now should be able to cook a chook with the heater :)

I own a 2004 Buick Rendezvous, its a 3.4 liter engine and it's leaking coolant from an elbow on the engine firewall, on the passenger side. It only happens when the heater or the a/c is on. Would you...

That elbow goes to the heater core. Just go to a auto parts store, and ask them for a new elbow, remove and replace and everything will be just fine. The heater core controls the heat and cooling for the cabin of the vehicle.

Is there any fluid leaking onto the floor of the passenger side of the vehicle?

Overheating and leakage...

That tube is the A/C drain port. Your problem is the heater core is leaking and draining from the A/Cdrain port. I hope this helps.
Thank You,

Heater hose

Hi - honestly your best bet for this hose is going to be a dealership, although you could try either a NAPA or AutoZone as well. Those stores don't typically have the comprehensive microfiche or computer exploded diagrams that show parts in the detail that a dealer will have. That hose is a pressurized hose that goes from the engine to the heater core. On my cars, it's usually a nomral heater hose (ie, a fiber-reinforced rubber hose) of a specific diameter. You could take it off the car and go to a parts store to see if they have it. They may not have a packaged replacement hose with a part number, but they do carry reinforced heater hose in spools that they can cut by the foot. You may be able to do it that way and save the typical dealer's exorbitant price. If it's a pre-formed hose or any special design however, you'll be forced to buy the actual part at a Cadillac dealership.
