If it's a tiny red L.E.D. like a car alarm indicator, then it's to let you know the imobilizer is set, factory fitted and set to work from your key sensor(built into the ignition switch and key)

Sounds like the multifunction switch. Try working the hazard switch up and down a few times to see if you get some lights to work. If so then replace the switch.

SOURCE: 1994 Ford Probe GT - 1. Key stuck in ignition 2. Hazards on

Hello , I am a locksmith in Az. The Ford, Chevy& Dodge igns up until 2004 all had this problem. You will need a new updated "side-bar free" ignition to cure that problem. If you decied to splice wires , yes it will work, but you will need to be extra EXTRA CAUTIOUS IN RE-ATTACHING WIRES AND MAKE SURE THAT WIRES ARE IDENTICAL IN COLORS. (not yelling) just making sure you understand the importance of this procedure.

My Hazard Lights come on and can't turn off

Hi Todd:
I'd be thinking that the switch is defective.
The hazard lights are there for a reason so I would not disable them.
My suggestion?
Get the switch checked.

Why are the hazard lights in my rav4 occasionally coming on by themselves when the car isn't running and no one is around?

It sounds as though they are being activated b your key fob. If you do have a key fob that you can use to lock/unlock the doors, the hazard (directional lights) come on as a signal for you. Do you hear a beep at the same time as when the hazards come on? If so, then that could very well be your problem. Sometimes the "lock" button on the fob can be accidentally triggered when it is in your pocket. If you look in your vehicle manual under Remote Lock, there should be a sequence that you have to enter on the key fob that will shut off the hazard part.

Hazard lights go on by themselves

The replacement switch may be defective. Another possibility is that the remote starter is defective or was installed incorrectly.

Hi, I just got a series 3 1996 BMW. The alarm is constantly on and when we disabled it the hazard lights flash continuously. Any idea how to sort this?

There is a short in the connections so the hazard lights are flashing. The hazard flashers may begin flashing by themselves or the turn signals may flash at twice the normal speed due to condensation shorting out the circuit board. --------- Have you tried disconnecting the car battery, then turning the ignition on and reconnecting the battery? If not then please try this and check. And see if that makes any difference in the problem or solves the problem.--------- Also you can try disabling the hazards from flashing. To stop the hazards flashing pull the hazard switch out (pull the gear leaver gaiter out then you can put your fingers under the switch and push it out) then you will see a single wire in a black sleeving, cut this wire and this will stop them flashing. Also the alarm is behind the glove-box if you want to unplug it there. ----------- Keep updated for anymore query.Thanks.

The hazard lights are sticking on and draining the battery

Hi.

Replace the hazard lights switch.

Series 3 hazard light switch malfunctions are quite common. The switch may not work, or like in your case, it may short and drain the battery. You can find the procedure to remove the switch summarily described on this forum.

The switch can be tested disconnecting it from wires, and using an Ohmmeter on its contact to ensure it is opening and closing fine, and not sticking.

If the switch is fine, wiring, alarm system and crash sensor must be tested. The most common reason for this kind of problem is the switch itself.

My 1991 Honda Civic is not getting any power from the battery and we switched batteries and everything. When you turn the key it doesn't make any noise at all. The only thing that works right now is the...

Have you checked the fuse panel located under the hood? Hondas typically have several large amperage fuses in this fuse block that could cause the total power loss that you decribed. The hazard lights may be wired separately as a safety precaution (i.e.--not leaving you on the side of the road without hazard lights).

Hazard lights flash by themselves, doors won't stay locked (unlock by themselves) key fob won't work.

I has a similar problem and I just took the battery out of my remote. I think there is a problem/ short in the remote. It's as if the button is being pressed when it is not. I will use my spare one in the mean time. It was driving me crazy becuase I was driving long distance at the time and when I removed the battery it stopped. I hope this works for you!
