Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

My 2001 ford focus se brake lights tend to stay on. Just last night, I noticed them fading in and out when I was slowly driving up a slight incline to my carport. If I turn my car off and back on, it fixes the issue until I push on my brakes again. I feel like I have a short in a wire. Anybody know anything about this?

There is a small switch on your brake pedal under the dash. They are generally about $10. It should have 2wires and be about 2 inches long.

SOURCE: Ford Focus ZX5 - Rear brake lights stay on when car is running and in gear

Hi, you have suffered a major electrical short here, and the car is telling you via the light signals that you need to take care of this in a garage. The original short burnt cables, which is why there is visible signs of melting, smell etc. I know it will involve a cost, but consider the value of your life if the car was to go on fire with you or your family in it? Another short will cause such a fire, get to a garage soon!

you may have a vacuum leak or a restriction in the exhaust system check around under the hood to see if you can narrow down the noise. a restriction in the exhaust causes the excess exhaust to push back threw and make a whooshing noise. hope this helps

your fuel pump is going.

there was a 10 year unlimited mileage warranty on 2000 focus for this issue, but not sure if 2001 was included. The internal filters in the fuel pump clog and starve the pump. New stlye filters went into prodction but not sure if all of 2001 had the new design.

This is most likly a low RR tire. Check the tire pressure first. If that is OK, I would slowly drive to somone qualified to examine the rear suspention to see what might have broken.
good luck
