SOURCE: driver side electric window wont go down.have

I believe there is a relay that needs to be reset after you replace the motor. Get a tester and make sure the wire is getting electricity to it too and that it's not just a fuse that's the problem. Hope it helps!

SOURCE: drivers side window switch not working on 2005

the drivers door switch is most likely bad, they get used the most and wear out first, the connector on the back of switch may have come loose and not making good electrical contact, remove switch and check connector and if still not working need new switch, the windows are all on same circuit and either all work or none work so not fuse. extremely rare is a short in wired but not likely.

SOURCE: power window switch is not working and i would

I found the answer here; it tells you exactly which wires to jump in order to get the driver's side window to raise:

Power Window System Components
The power window system consists of the following components:

?€¢
LR power window switch

?€¢
RR power window switch

Power Window System Controls
The power window system will operate anytime the retained accessory power (RAP) system is active or when the ignition switch is in the ACCY or ON position.
The DDM contains 4 power window switches which are integral components. Closing any of the normally open, rocker type switches provides the DDM with a request for power window operation. The switches for the 2 front windows have 3 positions Up, Down and Express Down, while the switches for the rear windows have only 2 positions, Up and Down. Each of these switches and their positions is a direct input into the DDM. Upon receiving a request for power window operation, the DDM, transmits a class 2 message indicating the switch and it's changed position.
The PDM contains a single power window switch that is an integral component. Closing of this normally open, rocker switch provides the PDM with a request for the front passenger power window operation. The switch for the front passenger window has 2 positions Up and Down. Each of these switch positions is a direct input to the PDM.
The 2 rear passenger doors have there own switches. Each of the switches contain a power window up and down relay. A switch activation alone can control the up and down functions of the rear windows. However the BCM, upon receiving a class 2 message from the DDM, can control the set of relays which will activate the rear window motors.

I would suspect the window switch on the door. Sounds like the down switch part off the switch may not be working. Before replacing the switch I would get some spray that is made to clean electrical contacts. Should have it at any auto parts store or even radio shack. Spray the electrical contacts on the switch and clean it up real good and see how it does.

My 96 windstar windows don't work . Not working for awhile then all of a sudden they start working. Maybe one or the other or both, then they will quit working. Back and forth.

The most common problem with these windstars is a bad control switch or the window motors, you will need to test the window motor when it is not working, the motors have a bad spot on the windings and sometimes will make the connection and other times not depending on where the dead spot lands, the switch is also a problem, the contacts burn and dont make connection at times, but with window or windows not operating remove door panel and test for power at the wires at motor, there are two a power and ground, you will need a test light to check this, hold the window switch down or up, using the test light probe a wire one should be ground the other power,m then when switch is push in other direction the power and ground will switch, to test for ground you will need to hook test light clamp to power, hope the helps. also anther quick test is to hold button up or down depending on the postion of the glass and banging on door panel or if panel removed tap motor and if glass moves then motor is bad. good luck.

do any other windows work?
do they work from the drivers switch panel?
if they do, then power is likely to be present to the switch.
if the driver and pass. switches are interchangeable, try swapping them.
if all windows are dead, look for blown fuse first, then check switch and the socket/wiring harness connected to the switch.
smell the switch, if it smells burnt, it probably is...

Usually if the windows will work only one way you are looking at something wrong with the circuit board in the switch. If the windows ont go down without the other switches then check and make sure that the window lockout on the drivers door is not turned on. If the lockout for the switches is not on pull the drivers switch and see if you can find any burn marks or a burnt electrical smell on the board. If you find either of these then replace the board and this should fix the problem.

Burning smell under the hood and light came on saying coolant low refill, had it refilled and that is when I smelled burning smell

It could just be the smell of anti-freeze that was spilled onto the exhaust or is sitting in one of the many little "pool"s on the top of the motor. Does it have a sickeningly sweet smell - like molasses? If so, that is most likely the problem . You can try hosing (very light pressure here!) off the engine compartment to rinse off any that has spilled. If you do this and still have this problem - I would check for leaks - both while the car has been running for 10 minutes or so, and also AFTER it has been shut off after running for the same amount of time.

Hope this helps!

2003 Buick Century - window problem

I've had a similar problem with my 2003 Buick Century. In my case, the driver's side front window one day went up and would not come down. I knew that the switch was malfunctioning by sticking in the up position since the window continued up despite the fact that Iet off the switch when the window was half way up and it continued going up. I had to pull over and pull the master switch assembly from the door panel and unplug it to prevent the window motor from being damaged by the constant power feeding it after the window was up. Basically, it would have burned the motor out. I cleaned the switch and it now works fine most of the time. I still need to replace the assembly. Not sure this is the reason in your case. I would check the back window and see if it goes down with the switch on the back door panel. If it does, then you are having problem with the master switch assembly on your front door panel. Moisture from rain from the window being down during rain or dirt may have corroded the switches' contacts.

2003 Malibu D/Window down. Wont go up. All looks in place.

Maybe, but in my honest opinion your power window switch has an open on the up side. What this means is when you hit the switch in the up position,it's like your not pushing it.I would check all your wires that you can locate in the door for cuts or burns in the insulation. If none are found,I would replace the window switch first. Also it is cheaper to try that first than to buy the motor and still have the problem. And in this case it sounds like the switch. My name is Tommy and i hope i have been helpful.Have a good day.
