My car wont shut doen when i turn off the ignition

Use a higher octane fuel and new spark plugs.

You likely have soot built up in the cylinders from many short trips, on a cold engine and hard acceleration.

It it is diesels go that is, running because the gas is buring just from getting compressed (no spark needed).

BURING A LOT OF GAS

The computer will meter fuel based on the engine temperature. When the coolant temperature sensor fails it usually goes to maximum fuel supply. When this happens the car will be slow to start the first time, turn it off and it will start as normal. The gauge on the dash may not be affected.

Check engine light gas smell

The reason can be faulty fuel supply system. There might be any damaged fuel supply line which may be leaking the fuel. Check for the damaged pipe and repair or replace the pipe. It is not necessary that engine is burning gas fast, leak in fuel supply line may also result in more gas consuming vehicle.

Why does the van smell like gas when i come to a stop

If the engine is buring oil, it usually smells like burned toast. Check the oil level on the dipstick to see if the oil is low (add oil as needed to bring it back up to the full mark. DO NOT let the engine oil level get too low or serious engine damage will result!. Do a compression check or leak down test to diagnose worn pistons or rings. The underlying cause may be worn or broken piston rings, worn or damaged cylinders, worn valve guide or valve guide seals. A PVC valve could also be at fault leaking oil into the intake.

2003 trailblazer v6 with codes P1133, p1028 & P0171 are these all related? And how serious is this? Whats the worst possible scenario? I'm buring alot of gas with a slight smell of gas?

I've had all these at the same time also. P1133 is your upstream 02 sensor, very easy, maybe 15 min to replace. p1028, is your thermostat reading a low temperature, replace this, or have someone replace it for you. P0171 is the downstream 02, difficult one to do if you're not mechanically inclined. Nothing horrible here, OK to drive, but if you want better gas milleage, get this fixed. The gas smell might be a different problem all togeher, there is a recall from a leaking gas tank.

Rough start, smell gas

For the RPM's jumping up and down i would replace the throttle position sensor. If it smells like bad gas or rotten eggs these are signs that the cat. converter is going bad. For the poor gas mileage replace the fuel filter.
