Hi, I have a 2009 BMW 328i with 57,000km. 1 morning about 2 weeks ago, i went to start the car to go to work, the car started, rmp danced between 1k-2k and stalled! i had to try starting the car about 6, 7 times till it finally started and was ready to go. I had no check engine lights, nothing! this has happened every morning since that day and has gotten progressively worse (takes more 10, 15 times to start up, check engine light, exclamation light, engine light come on, and the car shakes). This problem happens only in the morning or if the car is sitting for more than 6, 7 hours. If the car is warmed-up the car has no problems, no engine lights, no nothing. I took the car to a reputable mechanic, he scanned it for a couple and said there is all sort of codes that he is getting that don't make sense, like overheating codes, fuel pump codes, ECU malfunction codes, Valvetronic sensor and motor codes. He said he does not know what's going on exactly and I have to leave the car for a few hours for him to do more tests which is gonna cost me around $400 for just scanning it. I just like to have some opinions from some of the more knowledgable contributors here. To sum up, 1. car is really hard to start in the morning, starts and stalls 2. no engine lights and codes once the car starts up finally 3. I do feel the car is a bit slow and not as quick to take off (but it could just be me feeling bias) 3. Once the car is warmed up, it starts with the first try. 4. the car has new alternator and battery (load test done). Any input is much appreciated.

Possibly faulty ignition module is the problem, stalls when engine is hot when you sit for a while it cools off and runs again until it heats up again, those are usually the symptoms of a bad ignition module and after a while it may give out all together and not run at all, usually if the module is at fault it shuts down the fuel pump so the engine don't load up with fuel, do to when engine continuously cranks over the injectors never stop squirting fuel and flood the engine do to lack of spark which is produced by the module, this could possibly be your problem.

Sounds like you have a problem with your fuel injectors, either they are working to much or not enough once they get warm....

Take it to a shop ant tell them you want the injectors tested.

k is there power to fuel pump? yes,,, check grounds..... NO check relay only get kia relays for main and fuelpump since o2s run on the same relay,..... if relay is good suspect comp.... mine has same problem with no power to fuel pump i have now traced problem to ecu sux but at least it has a new fuel pump and relay lol.....

TRY ANOTHER FUEL PUMP AND FUEL FILTHER THESE PUMPS ARE FUNNY ON VOLVOS HAD SAME PROBLEM ON 850 TURBO AND SURE ENOUGG IT WAS THE PUMP

look at spark plug 6 see if it is foul out with oil. when you first start you car up and it smokes blue you have leaking valve seals and stop up oil return holes.if all is good .check 6 injector make sure its getting power.

If its not holding as charge your battery just cvoincidently went bad

Hi' there my 2000 328i when i start it up in the morning the idle goes up and down then the car just shuts down and i have to start it up again please help


bad compression maybe.. check ur intake to make sure it is all connected correct and check exaust for any major leaks...u would hear ur exaust if it was leaking it would be way louder than normal...

water pump may be the way to test take off cap when cald hold reves see if water flys out if so ok if not water pump maybe on the way out
