SOURCE: need glove compartment latch assembly for 1989

Salvage yard is your best bet to find the latch, and most likely the cheapest, I dought you can get one from a dealer being that old, you can also try National parts depot, or Original parts groupe, or Year one, they might have it. There might be other buicks that will interchange or other G.M. products.

the digi dash on older gm cars sometimes burn out that sounds like the problem you are having. if you dont want to go through the hastle of replacing it get a gps they are fairly cheep and display your speed. just keep up on your fluid levels as you will have no way of knowing what is going on under the hood.

How i can replace BCM on Gmc sonoma 2000

Replacing the BCM is easy , There are some steps that need to be followed but still easy ! After the new BCM is installed that's when the average person gets into trouble , because they don't have the knowledge ! They replace the BCM an it won't start an other thing's won't work . Replacing a BCM is best left to the dealer or some other qualified repair shop . It needs to be programmed an then Passlock Learn procedure has to be done. You may be replacing it when it doesn't need replacing . What problem is your vehicle having ? Have you had it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ? An not OBD2 codes , BCM codes won't turn on the check engine (MIL) light .
The body control module (BCM) must be programmed with the proper RPO configurations. The BCM stores the information regarding the vehicle options and if the BCM is not properly configured with the correct RPO codes the BCM will not control the features properly. Ensure that the following conditions exist in order to prepare for BCM programming:
?€¢
The battery is fully charged.

?€¢
The ignition switch is in the RUN position.

?€¢
The data link connector (DLC) is accessible.

Follow the instructions on the Techline Terminal and scan tool to program the BCM. If the BCM fails to accept the program, perform the following steps:
?€¢
Inspect all BCM connections.

?€¢
Verify that the Techline Terminal and scan tool have the latest software version.

How do I replace the body control module

Replacing the BCM is the easy part , find where it lives on the vehicle , disconnect the connectors plugged into it , an then remove from it's bracket ! Now comes the hard part if you do not have a J2434 programmer tool an a subscription to the GM web site to get the info you need !
http://j2534store.com/
Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration
A new body control module (BCM) must be programmed with the proper RPO configurations. The BCM stores the information regarding the vehicle options and if the BCM is not properly configured with the correct RPO codes, the BCM will not control all of the features properly. The Tech 2 software will automatically prompt you with the RPO's available for the vehicle. Ensure that the following conditions exist in order to prepare for BCM programming:
?€¢
The battery is fully charged.

?€¢
The ignition switch is in the ON position.

?€¢
The data link connector (DLC) is accessible.

?€¢
All disconnected modules and devices are reconnected before programming.

To setup a new BCM, access the SPECIAL FUNCTIONS menu on the scan tool to program the BCM. Select SETUP NEW BCM and follow the instructions on the scan tool. If the BCM fails to accept the program, perform the following steps:
?€¢
Inspect all BCM connections.

?€¢
Verify that the scan tool has the latest software version.

This is something best left to the dealer or a mobile Tech that does this sort of thing , if you get it wrong you could make it that the vehicle won't start or run !

Buick Rendezvous 2002 need codes?

the BCM needs to be programmed to operate the computer. a GM techII is now required to calibrate BCM to airbag, stereo, keyless entry, and control pcm data. This is required to make it all work. a gm service should have it done within an hour or less just call and ask them how much it would be to program new BCM. it might cost @$75 to $125 but it is needed, to allow the BCM to work properly.
