Question about Cars & Trucks

Open Question

2008 Ford Escape radio just stopped working. Changed fuse but did not work? It had been working the day before but yesterday when I got in my car...no radio, no time display, I can press the clock and the time will appear for about 10 seconds and then fade out.

SOURCE: Radio wont work

wfdyer,

go buy a new radio. You can usually get free installation. If you are a do it yourselfer. Then go to crutchfields web site. They are great, they give you the adaptor plates and wire harness to go from what ever radio you get to the car, with no splicing (cutting and reconnecting of wires) They will tell you what radios will not work and tell you what ones will.

Sorry to say it but you have power to the radio, and there are really 3 things a radio needs to work. power, speakers, and a signal. you can check the antena to make sure its not broken or disconnected. but most of the times its the radio

SOURCE: no radio display

u must pull the radio out and remove the top cover of the radio, under that u will find a tiny bulb socket just behind the display inside the radio, remove that twist in bulb socket and replace the miniature bulb, any parts store will have it.

SOURCE: 2008 Ford Escape Horn Fuse keeps blowing after

I would trace the wire from the horn and see if it was inadvertently damaged when the alternator was installed. If you have a voltmeter, you can remove the horn fuse and check to see if there is continuity between the horn (non hot side) of the fuse and the car body. This would indicate a short in the wire running from the fuse box to the horn. You can also look around the alternator mounting area to see if any wires are being pinched. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Most likely a fuse. If your fuse box is labeled it will say radio under the fuse. If its not check your owners manual for location of fuse box and radio fuse.

2008 Ford Escape XLT horn stop working

Find the horn and see if the wire is attached. If so, hook up a 12 v lamp to the wire & attach to a good GND. Pushing the horn button should light the lamp. If it lights, your horn is defective. If it doesn't ,check the fuse, wiring to the button and the switch(button). This should be the basic crkt.
