    It started out I could drive it to work in the morning with no problem about 26 miles. Then in the afternoon on the way home it would start lossing power and backfiring and now it does right after you start it up and rev the engine.

Fuel delivery problem, not enough fuel on acceleration could cause backfires. Many things cause backfires, mechanical and electronic. I need more info to give a better diagnosis. Did the problem happen all of a sudden or has the vehicle been running crappy for awhile.

SOURCE: bogs down

Even though this is an old post i feel it needs an answer since there is 225 followers wanting an answer. This situation sounds as if this vehicle is either suffering from the Throttle Position Sensor switch which has bad spots in it causing lack of voltage or the Fuel rail pressure regulator which can not keep the fuel pressure built up in the fuel rail making the auto veel like it is running out of fuel.And the transmission speed densor which also controls fuel. The situations for each device has a test that can be done to determine which one it is. And last but not least lets never forget our fuel filter this can cause the exact same problem. I am eliminating the cam sensor because it stabilizes at idle. Eliminating the crank sensor because it too at idle also stabilizes and returns a smooth idle. So a fueling problem is what we have here one of the above. Enjoy and if you need help determining which one just ask me I will help you figure it out. Please rate my advise thanks it is how i receive my achievements.

It sounds like a major vacuum leak into the intake manifold. Check all of the hoses attached to the intake and throttle body for leaks including the power brake booster hose.

Engine backfire

Sounds like the timing may be off. I would need to know what engine it has to help you diagnose this better.

1990 ford bronco with fuel injected 302 idles and revs fine out of gear but has loss of power and pings when in gear and accelerating...

First thing to try would be different fuel. Use a fuel stabilizer and fill with good gas. see if that helps. Also, check the fuel pressure.

Hello;
Most likely cause is a broken valve spring on one of the intake valves. Seat pressure is light enough to idle smooth but on acceleration the dynamics increase the pressures and the spring can not keep up. Hangs the valve open breifly and you get a backfire through the TBI.
Hope this helps.

duck tape on the air intake. I just fixed mine. There is a crack on the intake that lets too much air in when you put it in drive that makes the car stall. Try it it works.
