A/C Compressor with Kit Repair Time

How long would it take a mechanic to replace an AC compressor with the kit including the receiver drier? I was quoted 4.5 hours but I do think that maybe that's quite high. Maybe if I could get a 2nd opinion from you guys.

SOURCE: Can I Rebuild an Air Compressor?

you are better off getting a new one if you have never rebuilt one. you need special tools and feeler gauges to service them correctly. plus you get a warranty with a new or reman one. really don't try to rebuild one. best to have a shop service it for you.

SOURCE: Can I purchase a rebuild kit for my A/C

Not really the ones you buy at the store are rebuilt or are new copies of the orginal. yah their high alright but the tools and cleaning that you need to doarent cost effective the company that is going to supply the one you get tears down as many of the same unit as they can find and throws away abig part of the removed parts. Then build a few good ones with lots of new parts. each one needing different combinations of new and cleaned or remachiended parts. Mass production is the only way to do this. Many blown units have no useable parts at all and their parts go in the recyclebin

Check the pressure again. If low, add some with die it in. Get the kit and find the leak. If a shop did this job, it should have been automatic. Even the evaporator in the dash can be checked. Check the water that comes out with a black light.

Have a 93 k1500 chevy did not have ac condenser i need to know witch line goes where

The line from the compressor goes to the top and the bottom line goes to the evaporator in the car. There should be a receiver/drier before the condenser that takes out any impurities in the gas including moisture from the air which damages the internals of an ac system. The line from the compressor goes to it ---from there to the condenser and the bottom line back to the evaporator. If you do not have a receiver/drier then get one.

AC was blowing cold. Now only warm air comes out.

May just need to be recharged, if r34 is too low, ac will not kick in, Wal-mart sells recharge kits and cans of r34 (insctructions are on kit)...expect to pay around $50 total if you do it yourself. If that doesn't work you may have to replace the AC compressor.

Need to replace the Air Compressor on my 2002 Sant FE. Hyundai Dealer recommended "only" the compressor needed to be replace. Although I am not an expert on air conditioning, this made me skeptical...

Just let the dealer replace the dryer/filter. Its a very cheap part. The only time it needs to be replaced is if there is a mechanical copressor failure. I recomend changing filter/dryer . Also orings on both dryer/filter and compressor. It won't hurt to just replace comressor though and see if this fixes.

AC repair and busted Compressor bolt.

You can install the parts I am sure without professional help, but you will need to have the system pulled down with a vacuum pump to remove all air and moisture, also u will need to replace the accumulator/drier canister an the fixed orfice. always use new seals, never reuse old seals, if the AC has been contaminated flush it with AC flushing fluid, if u don't the new/rebuilt compressor will fail, also if the accumulator is not replaced the AC compressor warranty will be voided, so keep the receipt's
